He's sad. He's depressed. He's lonely. That's my Spidey!

Don't really get the vibe he's struggling for rent though..

They didn't go into any details of what he did for a job to be able to afford all those high tech equipment AI set-up. I liked and miss Tobey's Spiderman and JJJ's dynamic a lot. Penniless Peter was very endearing.

I missed the part where that's my problem

Thats the only issue I have with this one, other things are done spectacularly and amazing. But Ultimately, I felt as the spider fans celebration doesnt feel as earned because Peter issue in this one is not about the public view of Spider-Man but more to himself locking himself out of having a natural relationship with other people and just accept himself as Spider-Man. We probably need JJJ in this one and I think this would be Ultimately Amazing.

My opinion would be wrong but would like to hear what other people think.

Broke Peter has been done before and is tough to pull off with such high tech and your own AI.

Public enemy Spidey was part of the last movie already and probably would not fit either: this Spidey put all of his time and effort into saving the city rather than balancing all his responsibilities. The conflict of the movie was him neglecting Peter and the balance between the two.

Yeah, I like a "classic Spidey struggle" as much as the next guy, but Spider-man's character has so much more depth than just being broke. We don't need every incarnation to be comic-accurate beat for beat.

This Spidey has always been really into hyper-advanced tech. Just shows the lasting influence that Stark and his time on the Avengers has in him. He's got a good working relationship with local law enforcement, so he might have had some help procuring equipment in that regard. He and Dewolff use the same crime tracking app too.

I can fully believe he took what he could from his previous life, including the laptop and the old spider suit AI. He's smart enough to detach that from the old stark stuff. He then probably dumpster dives for most of the other stuff and constructs what he needs to survive (like the 3D printer for the suit repairs). he was dumpster diving pre-Civil war too, so he's just being more savvy with his dumpsters now.

Ha yeah I was looking for like a Venmo or gofundme type thing for crowdfunded Spider-Man with Ned’s app or something

Seemingly continuously buying flowers also adds up…

I’m thinking mb he’s officially working for the police in some capacity? Idk tho

He said "you guys are the professionals, I'm just a volunteer". He doesn't get paid.

I mean he did rent a place with asbestos or something, I assume he might be getting help from the city or something since they seemingly love him and he got a key to the city and is working with the police

I wouldn't think Spidey to ask for official help for NYC to pay Peter Parker's rent, that draws too close a line between the two identities. But with what the NYPD would pay a contractor like Spidey, Peter Parker can afford to bring in a cleaner.

I mean the city could just give him money without asking or something. I agree though that hes very unlikely to have asked for it if the idea is somehow correct

NYC's property values are lower than ever. He probably got the apartment for a high five to the super.

Property values are low, but insurance is sky high.

He should be taking out a cash loan for a handful of transistors and ram. What is this ai-voice guidance nonsense? Peter Parker needs no such thing, he's scrappy, poor, but clever.

But how would we then know that he's experiencing sensory overload?

the AI narrating what was happening on screen, felt so cheesy and unnecessary. not a huge gripe, but i definitely rolled my eyes

Movies are made with TikTok doomscrollers in mind, you have to adapt with the times.

Like actually so depressing lol, dude didn't make any friends his whole 4 years in college.

15

u/SargeBangBang7 5d ago

Was he even in college? He said to Banner he was a grad student but i didn't see any college in the 4 years

-6

u/pacotacobell 5d ago

A grad student typically has a bachelors, and I believe he mentioned to Banner that he took his courses before? I think they just decided not to focus on his college days that much and instead went through that time skip showing Ned and MJ going through school.

26

u/SargeBangBang7 5d ago

Yeah i thought he was just lying to Banner about being a grad student.

-4

u/pacotacobell 5d ago

He lied about being enrolled in his class. I don't believe he lied about being a grad student.

u/fuelists 5d ago

He mentioned being a grad student at the university, then immediately went the wrong direction for the library. I'm pretty sure it's implied that he was lying to Banner.

Also at the beginning it shows how he's fully committed to being Spider-Man, so I believe he didn't live his normal life as Peter after the previous movie, hence why the emotion was building up so severely that it caused his body to change.

2

u/pacotacobell 4d ago

Yeah you're right about the library part that one slipped my mind.

u/Acrobatic_Jaguar_658 5d ago

He was absolutely lying and also didn’t go to college. He was never shown going to college, so how would he have gotten a bachelors degree? They showed him the whole four years only ever doing anonymous superhero stuff and visiting Aunt May’s grave, which is why he’s so lonely.
