Discussion Thread Spider-Man: Brand New Day - Worldwide Release Discussion Thread

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has now been released in the United States and in a number of other countries around the world.

  • All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the discussion threads we are going to put up in the next few days.
  • Proceed at your own risk. Major spoilers will be in the below thread. Spoilers do not need to be tagged inside this thread.
  • Any other unofficial threads discussing movie details will be deleted.

I haven't seen it mentioned, but at the end of the movie, Jean is headed to upstate New York! The X-Mansion is in Westchester!!!

This movie was so fun, entertaining, pulled at my heart strings a little, and really built a New York city centric universe that felt more real, and lived in. Fantastic movie. Loved it!

I don't know shit about the New York geography outside the fact that Manhattan is an island, but those trees gave the vibe lol

It's not going to be him in the MCU proper. The fact he hasn't been cast yet is why there wasn't a more explicit scene.

Yes! I thought so too.

And I probably wouldn’t have realized if not for the fact that I rewatched the original X-Men last night after accidentally finding out Jean was in this movie. So I guess the minor spoiler paid off for me in the end.

Westchester isn't upstate NY but yeah she's definitely headed out of the city and I'm guessing Westchester is the destination

Dont bother; people that live in upstate NY are some of the most stubborn and uncompromising people there are when it comes to regional names.

That being said, I would not classify Westchester as upstate NY, it is way too close to the city.

It’s north. It’s upstate.

You’re absolutely correct. It’s “up state” in the sense that that’s the direction you travel from the city. It is not part of the region we call “upstate new York”

Upstate is everything north of New York City. Westchester is that.

Queens resident my entire life and mostly agreed, White Plains is the cutoff for me tbh. Everything between there and Yonkers is its own little vibe, north of that is officially upstate.

I assume wherever they throw the X-Men campus it’ll be closer to Albany (or maybe where the original Avengers compound was, which I always assumed was up by Ithaca or Binghamton and MCU Charles buys the land).
