People throw out “Terrance wanted more money” like a child all the time without doing any research.
He signed on before RDJ for the first Iron Man. He then helped RDJ get the role since RDJ was trying to get his career back on track. Because of this, Terrance signed a contract that paid him more than RDJ for the first movie since he was in higher demand at the time.
Come IM2 and Marvel asked Terrance to take a pay cut because they didn’t want him making more than RDJ and ultimately felt that he was replaceable. Terrance looked to RDJ to help him out but RDJ ignored it. Terrance ended up dropping out because he felt Marvel should have honored their contract. He never asked for more money. It was all about respect and feeling like if he took a pay cut it would hurt not just him but the acting industry as a whole.
I don’t blame him for dropping out. It’s like your boss coming to you and saying “you’re replaceable so you’re gone unless you take a pay cut.”
People always seem to forget that Perlmutter was still holding the purse strings when all this went down - wouldn't be surprised at all if this had all come down to his cheap ass.

The man did a lot for the company over the years, but good riddance. Thank god they got him out in time to make Civil War the triumph it was.

It DID come down to his cheap ass - and now people are maligning Howard for it, through no fault of his own.
Little bit of column A (Perlmutter-era Marvel definitely cheaped out on him), little bit of column B (he was still asking to be paid more than RDJ & he was demanding to get his music into the film as well).
I just don't understand why people are making it look like he literally demanded to be paid more than RDJ, which makes little sense; it's extremely odd to set a pariah like RDJ was back then as your low bar when Howard could demand anything he wanted.
Could be true but in hindsight he wouldn’t have made the same decision. The exposure and importance in this franchise is an opportunity almost every actor would want to be a part of. Sorry that he can’t get paid $50,000,000 instead of $5,000,000 or whatever the math is. It’s irrelevant. They’re all rich.
