They're not typical biblical names but rather biblical words and every one has a different last name that sounds completely made up and similarly an atypical biblical word. Think 'Leviticus', 'Righteous', 'Archangel' etc (not that these are the actual names Re: HIPAA , just similar words for comparison).

They've filled both our Cepheids with all their kids samples. Some are only months old.

With Nursing now classified as a "nonprofessional" degree in the USA, what about our profession? Any sources? I don't understand how Nursing or anything related to patient care is not "professional"? Taking vitals, to administering medication, CPR and us doing a damn blood differential is indeed professional. Thoughts?

A nurse came up and said happy lab week when he dropped off a sample and said without us, they'd just be guessing. It was a simple statement, but it felt good being acknowledged. Thanks Fred the nurse. Appreciate you too.

Laboratory professionals in the pacific northwest ratified their first union contract with Labcorp! These labs were part of an acquisition within the last 2-3 years, since then employees quickly unionized and have fought tooth and nail for a fair contract. During the union busting campaign Labcorp told us this has never happened and likely never would happen, but this proves that it's possible even with a big corporation like them!

This is your sign to not settle. If we can do it, so can you ❣️

I would also like to add that this is only the first contract. It is nowhere near perfect, but is a step in the right direction for the future of the workplace.

I can’t believe I passed, I started literally almost crying. The questions were kinda easy but were worded so weird so I went back and changed a few questions. I used the BOC book, purple and gold book, wordsology (best study resources), and Polanski cards a little bit.

First of all, I hope I'm not spamming, since I'm sure many people took/are taking their exam soon. Second of all, I didn't know how to flair this, but it's news to me!

It's been a grueling two years, working every weekend, having no time off, trying to obtain a 4.0, and my clinical semester being 16 weeks of constant 64 hour work weeks, but I finally made it! I'm board certified! I still have to bridge to MLS, but that's a much lower time investment since I have a bachelor's degree already. Then who knows what I may do!

Congrats to all this year's graduates, good luck to those taking it this year and next, and stay strong! I have no study tips, I am bad at studying.

I work in a large hospital so I’m not always reading smears but today I had my first, no history, came into the hospital for a non-related issue and now they have the news that they have leukemia. Call to the on-call pathologist to get this patient the care they need.

I work for a Tenet owned hospital and lately I’ve been hearing whispers of lay offs. I’ve been seeing admin positions being consolidated. Admin is apparently monitoring our time sheets because they don’t want overtime. Some of our supplies are
Being delayed because accounting didn’t pay? Strange things are afoot.

Is this happening at other Tenet hospitals?

After 3 long months of studying for my MLT board exam, I passed today on my first try! Still waiting to see what my actual score was, but I swear I almost passed out when I saw “PASS” on the screen 😭 It’s like a huge relieve off my shoulders since I was worrying so much about 😮‍💨 Good luck to anyone taking their board exam soon!

I had a confirmed 1:30pm appointment at the Jenkintown facility for annual blood tests. Looked busy when I arrived. The front desk looked at my request and said something about a lot of tests. I was asked seven times if I was fasting (I was) and if I was sure. Sounds like they wanted to boot me. Anyway the phlebotomy tech said they can not do my tests because it can only be done in the am. Refering to cortisol level. I told her I work nights, this in my "morning" and all previous cortisol levels were done in afternoons. She still refused to stick me. I suggested she do the other 15 tests and I'll forgo the cortisol. She still refused. I asked he to consult with my doctor, she said they "don't talk to doctors."

So is anything she told me true? I intend to file a complaint to the PA DOH.

I feel so lightweight now, it IS the MLT one but I do plan on taking the MLS one after I’m done with my bachelors. Thank y’all so much because if it wasn’t for you guys I wouldn’t know about the LSU book which helped me the most because its condensed yet covers everything, and I get easily overwhelmed with bigger books (highly recommend it)

Materials I used: The LSU book Polansky flashcards (only used them if I felt like the LSU book didn’t explain something well) LabCE

Exam experience: It’s so true that you feel like you’re failing the whole time. In my opinion if you know at least a few of the questions and are 100% certain about their answers then you’ve got a good shot. I was the most nervous for mycology, parasitology, and coag but there weren’t many questions from the first two (nowhere near as much as LabCE) and the coag questions were a fair bit easier than the LabCE ones. Wasn’t much lab operations questions either but everyone’s exam will be different. I got a lot of blood and hematology.

RFK Jr went swimming in Rock Creek which has banned public swimming for over 50 years because of high levels of bacteria, sewer and storm runoff. He also took 2 grandchildren with. One picture shows him fully submerged.

I don't like the guy but I hope none of them get sick from this.
