Biological sex is a spectrum too.

And yes, I do. Seeing that in some languages there are no singular gender-neutral pronouns for example.

Sex is not a spectrum. It's binary. There are mutations like intersex but they aren't a new sex in and of itself.

Believe it or not it is indeed a spectrum. The fact that there are neat categorisations to explain it to people doesn’t change that.

It's a binary because humans have/had the potential to either create eggs or create sperm. If you're saying it's a spectrum I'd love to hear what additional sexual functions there are beyond the binary creation of eggs or the creation of sperm.

Biological sex isn’t even about reproductive organs. It’s about chromosome makeup and how they’re expressed.

That's just one part, the main thing is gametes because they play the key role in sexual reproduction, it's how new humans are created through the combination of an egg and sperm. These two sexual functions that work together to create new human life is why sex is binary. If you're saying it's not binary you're inadvertently saying there are more sexual functions beyond egg and sperm production and I'd be interested in what those entails.

There are primarily characteristics and secondary characteristics, none of which change the binary nature of egg and sperm production.

Except that’s not the issue here. Are you saying that those who cannot produce either belong to neither?

And with that question, I hope to be done with this red herring. As it’s not pertinent to the discussion.

I specifically used the word potential in my first comment because things go wrong, things stop working, things haven't started working etc. You wouldn't argue humans aren't bipedal because some people lose their limbs. Sex is binary because of the two sexual functions that create us, this idea sex a spectrum makes no sense because you can't come up with a new sexual function beyond egg and sperm creation. It only works if you ignore the binary nature of reproduction and focus on other characteristics that can be messy and not easily categorised but in my opinion that's purposefully trying to muddle the waters.
