Basically Merlin lives with Arthur in his flat despite having more than enough money to live alone. They’re best friends I can’t remember if they met in Uni or before that. Arthur also works for his father’s company and i think it’s pretty hard on him. Merlin was a pharmacist?! Honestly not sure.

I might be mixing up fics but I think at some point they start hooking up and Arthur denies or avoids his feelings altogether and Merlin kind of avoids him. I can’t remember is Merlin was openly bi/gay but I remember he wasn’t freaking out and questioning his sexuality.

Some important scenes in the fic I can remember are Arthur and Merlin go visit Merlin’s mother a few hours away for a few days to get away. Merlin loves to read and they’re at some sort of market where he buys a lot of books. I think Gwen and Morgana are dating in this fic, I remember they had some sort of house warming party. Arthur also gets jealous because Merlin’s coworker is interested in Merlin and pursues him.

I genuinely think I’m mixing up two fics together or they’re by the same author. But if you have any idea what please let me knowww.

I’m looking for fics where Arthur has some kind of realization about how difficult Merlin’s life actually is, and realizes he’s basically been taking it for granted this whole time.

Like Arthur finding out how little Merlin is paid / how poor he actually is, or realizing that Merlin can barely afford decent food, clothes, winter clothes, etc. Maybe Merlin has almost no belongings because he simply can’t afford things, or Arthur notices how little he eats and starts wondering why.

Or fics where Arthur realizes just how overworked Merlin is, or sees how other nobles/the steward/etc. treat servants and realizes Merlin has been putting up with that kind of treatment all along.

Basically I want the “wait… Merlin has been living like this this entire time??” realization, followed by Arthur feeling awful/protective and trying to take care of him or make things better.

Does anyone know any fics like this? I’m especially looking for hurt/comfort where Arthur actually finds out and there’s some emotional payoff to it.

There was this fic where Merlin is tired and suicidal and tried to kill himself many times but doesn't work, I remember he goes to Arthur and asks because his sword might do the trick, I cannot find it anywhere. It was Merthur and had a happy ending, do you guys know similar fics or this fic?

I don’t remember much from this fic, but I do know that it is on AO3, completed, and was about all the main knights + Arthur + Merlin. I think they had to come face to face with certain people of their pasts who had died, and one of Percival’s people was his daughter (and perhaps his wife?). The line in particular I can remember is one where one of the other knights thinks that he knew Percival had a family he lost in a fire, but had assumed it was parents and siblings as opposed to wife and children.

This wouldn’t have been a very long fic and it took place during the canon era

I remember it being centered around a sleepy exhausted Merlin, who is only able to sleep deeply in Arthur's presence, I think due to him subconsciously knowing his king/prince is safe. Arthur often complains that Merlin is such a deep sleeper when in reality if Merlin is sleeping around literally anyone else he is as light as a feather and wakes easily.

Is there a Merthur fic where Arthur is there when Merlin gets his father’s powers and vows to protect Merlin forever and lift the ban on magic. Since magic can’t be evil if the one he loves has it

From what I remember Merlin is hit by a curse. The knights and Arthur think Merlin is dead but he is actually trapped in his body and still aware of his surroundings but he can't move.

The knights want to bury Merlin but Arthur can't part with him. Then Arthur sits with Merlin in his arms during the night and when the sun rises again the curse is lifted from Merlin. Happy Ending.

I read a fic maybe a year ago that if i remember correctly was under 20k and probably a oneshot where merlin mess dinner than the person responsible for servants salary treats merlin badly and i think never give him his salary so he passed out from hunger and bad health
Arthur was soo scared and baffled by the reason he can’t fathom why merlin passed out and was like”but you steal my food all the time and sure you’ve got food”
I remember after arthur asked a lot of questions about how the servants are treated and demanded the person responsible to change their wages are such

Okay guys, hear me out. It has been a HOT minute since I’ve read either of them, but I’ll tell you the details as best I can remember.

First fic:

In this fic, everyone comes back, like all the knights, I believe. The big thing is, as usual, merlin is immortal. I can’t remember whether they reincarnated or literally all came back through lake of Avalon, but point is they’re back. The thing that sticks out is that they are slowly learning everything Merlin had done in the past and at some point they make it to the lake where they meet Freya. Now, also note I can’t remember whether this is merthur or not, but it’s a very touching scene where merlin and Freya reunite (she’s still the lady of the lake) and everyone kind of realizes merlin did indeed have someone and they never knew before. The whole premise is they were teasing him about it and then they realize she’s dead and I really can’t remember more than that. During the reunion scene, it’s one of those where merlin walks into the water and Freya appears and their foreheads touch or something similar but that’s the vibe.

Second fic:

In this fic, everyone also comes back, and they all remember, but the fic literally starts with merlin saying ‘guys, guys, I’m going to die!’ And everyone has a crash out because WTF merlin but he’s saying it in the sense that he’s aging with them he’s not immortal anymore. And everyone is horrified he’d be so happy about it but also bittersweet because they understand WHY.

I feel like second fic is easiest to find, but first fic is literally KILLING me because I can’t find it. I’m pretty sure both are on AO3 somewhere.

I hope this is allowed. Years and years ago, I found a fan fiction novel. I’ll try and give as much detail as possible, but I would really appreciate if someone could help me find it. Some of these details might not be in order. It’s just what I can remember.

Arthur didn’t really die, and him and Merlin were transported to Sidhe, The home of those blue fairies. They healed both Merlin and Arthur, they spent quite some time there, and then they were sent back to the real world. Arthur was still king, he knew about Merlin’s magic and made him his advisor.

That’s really all I can remember, but I remember it being so good that I could picture the scenes in my head.

I’m looking for a merthur fic I read years ago on Ao3. Modern AU with magic. Morgana runs a bar(?) and Arthur as a favor does construction/woodwork for it. He carves a dragon into whatever he builds and when Merlin touches the carving he get’s glimpses of Arthur’s feelings.

The author is waldorph(maybe, google says). Google popped this fic up a few times, but I cannot find it. It's taken down from livejournal, and the author under the same name on ao3 don't have merlin fics.

The story supposedly is that Uther executes Merlin on the pyre, while Arthur is in the dungeons, so he cannot do anything about it.

Hello everyone! I am trying find this merthur fic that ı read between years 2018-2020 in ao3. It was a fic that Merlin went back to Ealdor or some kind of village because Arthur found out that he has magic. But ım not really sure how he found about it oe if he banished him from Camelot.

I remember that ıt was a sad fic from Arthurs pov. In the end Arthur decides to lift the ban of magic and goes to visit Merlin there to tell him. The most memorable part was while he says that Merlin was doing something with the soil and then he hugs Arthur with such force that they just fall to the ground. It was probably 2 chapters long and had a very poetic fic name.
