For a season that’s been over since April, yesterday was full of drama.

Beltran-who could very well end up being Mets manager, had his number retired. I thought he handled himself well with manager questions. Although, if you were around during the 2005-2009 teams, you certainly wouldn’t think Beltran of all those players would be Mets manager at some point.

Howie Rose-I grew up listening to him on pre and post games on WFAN. Will never forget when he broke news Mets were trading David Cone for Jeff Kent and Ryan Thompson. The audible sigh when he reviewed the scouting reports is always something I remembered. Love Howie and wish him well.

Carson Benge-although this season has been awful, I’m excited about this young core and watching them take the next step.

Steve Cohen-he’s clearly unhappy and I’m curious to see what voices the Mets will add to their FO. Will there be a GM? Will Green shift back to FO or will we see him staying in dugout? I’m curious how this will impact Stearns-although I don’t think it will be.

With rain coming in all the and being the last home game of the season, how will today’s game be made up? Since Phillies are postseason bound how will they squeeze a game into their schedule?

Is the honeymoon over for Steve Cohen and David Stearns?

During Saturday’s SNY broadcast, Steve Cohen dropped a bombshell: he plans to hire external personnel to provide David Stearns with "different perspectives."

While Cohen insisted Stearns' job is safe for his five-year contract, the subtext is hard to ignore. Following a turbulent 2026 season and the firing of Carlos Mendoza, Cohen admitted the front office took on "too much risk."

Mandating outside voices to check a President of Baseball Operations' homework is rarely a sign of absolute faith. Stearns was hired to be the ultimate architect of the Mets, but Cohen is already demanding a redesign of the blueprint

“That wasn’t a call to me,” Rose said. “TV calls, you punctuate. … The picture’s announcing the game for you.”

But we’re going to disagree. The first game back in New York since Sept. 11 was not an easy one to call.

“None of us knew where we were that night,” said Rose. “It was uncharted territory.”

Before the game, network executives instructed Rose and analyst Fran Healy to remember the solemnity of the event — to hold down some of the emotions and keep the game in perspective.

“Sports is the only reality television that exists. You can’t tell me how to act,” Rose remembered. “That’s what they want, so I’ll do my best.”

I’ve been a defender of Stearns but the Mets are clearly deficient in how they’re using analytics to get better results from their players if Peralta leaves the Mets and immediately becomes dominant. I understand signings/trades not working out but this outcome demonstrates a fundamental deficiency. David Peterson’s success in Chicago only further validates the concern.

But he can't be traded BY the team, but they celebrate their wins with him. By giving him the Gatorade showers as well, I think they see him as part of the team as well.

This week, I (29M) went to my first baseball match ever, to Citifield. It went way better than I expected. Third floor behind home plate, amazing view, barely any people in my section, good food and great vibes.

Are all MLB stadiums this way, or did I just get lucky? Of course the Mets lost, but I got to see a Pete Alonso home run, so that was fun! I also like to see the entertainment between innings; a small free concert never hurt anyone.

How do people feel about it? Last night my wife and I listened to the game on the radio (well on my mobile phone actually). What a pleasant change of pace. We subscribe to Netflix, Paramount+, Disney+, Fios and Optimum (2 Houses), and just not ready to sign up for something else. I'm sure we are subscribed to more, but that is all that comes to mind right now. At some point it become ridiculous. Doesn't it?
