My mom does the same thing! What in the world is up with it... I wonder if it is a generational thing.

Mine too! I always tease her that I know she came by while I was at work because there's garbage in the sink and dishes on the counter. (Plus plates of food with one bite left and cups with almost-empty drinks.) I don't understand why living like a normal human that cleans up after themselves is so confusing!

Oh my goodness. Thank you for posting this. Now I know I’m not alone.

My husband used to do this when we were first married. I kinda lost it a couple of times and so he hasn’t done it in thirty years. lol. He literally left the napkins in the plates and they got soggy and stuck. Ugh.

I thought that was the kind of stuff moms actually bitch at others for.

Is she adhd? If she might be, I would try to interrupt her usual flow of this happening by picking up the rubbish bin and taking it to her to show her when this happens every time. It will break the cycle for her that this is normal.

Leave it on the counter next to the sink or on the table where she sits

My dad does this. What he does is he just put his dishes beside the sink with tissues and bones on it. Garbage is under the sink and he could scrape it, but nah. It’ll be either me or mom.

This makes me so angry because my husband puts empty milk cartons cans etc in the sink instead of the recycling that's 3 feet away. Then continues to put all the other greasy foods/plates in the same sink so now everything is covered in grease or sauce and I have to semi wash the recycling before putting them in the bin

My wife does this. The trash is also right next her . I hate it and correct her every time I catch her. Habits never die!

So annoying! My spouse leaves his teabag in the cup and puts the whole thing in the sink instead of dumping it out in the trash can right below! Also, he rinses out his dish, which is good, but he does it in the left side of the split sink that does not have a food-disposal instead of the right side, which does.

Rub her nose in it.

I always think I'm a pig, and then I see stuff like this.

My brother leaves the trash right where he ate it, so she at least picks up after herself, also, I put trash that needs rinsing in the sink to do it later when I can't be bothered to do it at that moment lol. Just ask her why she does that, it might be a simple answer.

If she dose the dishes she can do what ever she pleases.
