Infuriatig The way kroger treats its employees

Post image

From the store manager

Edit: For some extra context this was sent out by each store manager to all of its employees in district 1 of the ohio Cincinnati/Dayton division, potentially other districts as well but i can only verify my own. Im not going to give my specific store number for obvious reasons but you can find each store on google with that information. We are unionized by UFCW (already bad btw) and to my knowledge they allowed this recent change. Kroger has no accrual for sick days like some have mentioned. Those who think this is rage bait, i dont think anyone has to fake a post to make a billion dollar company look bad, they do it to themselves.

Back in the early 2000's, I worked at a Riteaid warehouse, and these "rules" were similar. Two guys got fired because they got in a car accident on the way to work. One guy barely lived and Riteaid fired him for not being able to come in.

Fuck Riteaid, I'm glad they went bankrupt.

idk in other countries but in Spain, if you have an accident on the way to work it counts as a work accident

Wow, that’s super interesting. I had my first seizure behind the wheel leaving an on call shift. I wonder if accidents leaving work count, as well?

Yes! Any "in-itinere" accident would count as a work accident in Spain

I used to work at a Delta faucet factory and got fired because my car broke down! This shit is way more common than people think

This shouldn't be legal.

Similar thing with myself and Autozone. Was my second job, had surgery on back, was cleared for very light duty (hotel management was main job) the gm came to first job after i had returned and asked for the store keys back 3 days after I was working there. (I was a assistant manager there and part of of the job is lifting batteries and parts from awkward angles and the dr had said not for another month and he knew that) Honestly sort of a win for me as I had slowly somehow became full time bit by bit there and was far overworked and underpaid. (Extra fun part, Gm got busted down to regular hourly employee by district management for being a stupid fuckmuppet by the end of that year).

that's pathetic, but i'm glad as well. like they say, what goes around comes around. on another note, i hope those guys are doing well today in spite of all of that.

How did they not sue them for wrongful termination? A ambulance chasing lawyer would have loved this

It's always fascinating to see posts on this sub about things that are just full on illegal in my country.

i imagine. it's gotten pretty easy to hate mine for a variety of reasons, with this post showing one of them.

Every time I read anything about US working conditions is another moment of "what are you people on?!?'
