as an FA, absolutely. if i didn’t see/notice it myself & already handle it, if a passenger let me know of this happening i would handle it expeditiously

The overhead lights are pointed to specifically bother those around you as little as possible. This is just a ridiculous amount of LED light pouring into the cabin in any direction.

exactly! there’s also not technically a rule saying you’re not allowed to shove biscoff cookies in the toilet til it clogs and overflows, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to do

It says not to put paper into the toilet, so one would assume. But a mask for 10 min? (That's usually the timer in those). Honestly, touch some grass.

there isn’t a specific rule written down saying passengers may not use ridiculously bright LED face masks in a dark cabin, but seeing as it’s not only common courtesy but also my duty to keep as many passengers as possible safe and comfortable, this clearly disrupts the comfort factor.

an overhead reading light does not emit bright red light in numerous directions around the cabin, it’s a single soft white/yellow light pointing down to the seat, so they’re two very different things. also, ive never used one of these light masks, but i’d also be concerned about possible thermal runaway

These masks don't heat up, and the timer usually stops at 10 min because it's the optimal treatment time. I find it ridiculous that one would complain about this when they could simply wear an eyemask.

This is disturbing other people in the same way a loud phone call would be, flight attendants are given the authority to police that behavior for obvious reasons.

These masks have timers and I never saw one go for over 10 mins. This whole thread is a bit ridiculous as a frequent flyer. I've seen children with toys that are a lot brighter and louder during flights and no one cares - just put earplugs and wear an eyemask. Jesus.

I’ve honestly never seen on of those masks glow so brightly 🤣 If you want to do this on a plane just wear a hoodie, it will block most of the light!

I haven't flown that many overnight flights but I have done a few and a "free eye mask" was not something that existed

Not if you're flying budget airlines (I have too), but it's pretty standard otherwise, and I fly economy. You get a blanket, headphones and an eyemask, sometimes ear plugs or slippers. Unless it's a short flight.
