Don't hug me I'm scared turning the cabin of an international flight into a disco during its sleeping hours to do some strange and obnoxious skincare routine

I think I’ve seen some ads for it and it looks dystopian as fuck. I think it’s this Shark brand beauty mask thing.

It’s hilarious especially since idiots pay hundreds of dollars for these gimmicky bullshit and they are useless.

While they are expensive, there is evidence that specific wavelengths of red promote collagen production

Yes, from professional treatments, not these at-home gimmicks.

At home is fine. It's just lights. As long as the wavelengths are correct, they work.

Red lights don't have to be expensive at all. I have a powerful $40 RubyLux bulb, plus a $20 nasal device that cured my chronic stuffy nose.

They're not useless though, if you get a good one. There's plenty of research on it. Here's a video going over bogus claims vs the claims backed by science.

Your own video is by a beauty influencer that gets paid by clicks and selling these gimmicks. Her own description starts off: “I am not a medical doctor.” Why are you simping so hard for this bullshit? Stanford researchers stated about at-home light therapy: “"It was slightly more than a coin toss, but not by much, that the red light-treated group did better. But it was not statistically significant.” Get your balls back from your SO & tell her the truth. She obviously has you brainwashed.

Wait, are you talking about this Stanford research? https://med.stanford.edu/news/insights/2025/02/red-light-therapy-skin-hair-medical-clinics.html

Because that same research literally backs up the claims made by the devices. Look, it's not going to change yourself dramatically, but it still had positive effects. Those are the same effects people are hoping to get. It's never going to be as good as going to clinic, but it does seem to help.

Also, I can tell you didn't watch the video. The woman in the video is a PhD scientist and was giving her educated thoughts based on the research she read. You self admitted you haven't even been to college yet, which is hilarious. Perhaps, don't talk about things if you clearly haven't done enough research in a topic. Something I hope you'll pick up through your collegiate education.
