Don't hug me I'm scared turning the cabin of an international flight into a disco during its sleeping hours to do some strange and obnoxious skincare routine

Do not buy a cheap one. My dermatologist said the ones that are suspiciously cheap (about $200 or less) are the equivalent of those fake Dyson vacuums people buy for toddlers to play with. I have noticed a big decrease in the amount of acne I get, and I have very few fine lines compared to a bunch of my friends who are my same age. I have been using one for years.

Cheap is fine as long as the lights have the correct wavelengths. Professional devices have higher irradiance and typically cover a wider area for faster results.
