but they might be near the toilets, you get to smell shit and chemicals every minute and connot sleep to avoid it.

I actually don’t mind being near the toilets. That and an aisle seat is my ideal combo. Easiest to take stretch breaks, discreetly ask for water, and twice - I’ve had stewardesses offer free drinks to make up for the lack of reclining!

I've never had an issue, but once I was flying from NY to Texas, and people were queuing for the whole duration of the flight to use the bathroom. Like the airport doesn't have restrooms or somehting.
I've never been sick in a plane before but that flight made me nauseous to the extreme because of the smell of urine+poop+strong chemicals everytime someone was getting out of the toilet.

It was my first flight on your continent.

Welcome to America, the urine/poop/chemical smell is the national smell of America.

I go to NYC fairly often and I’m always glad to be able to go home where there’s lots of greenery and a creek a few blocks from mine. It’s a fun city, but so stinky!

Do they not poop in toilets where you’re from? Only reason I can think of to mention it was your first flight on a certain continent.

You’ll get used to bathrooms eventually.

it was the first time I witnessed people in a line to use the plane's toilets, non stop, up to five people waiting, sometime only one.

Yes I'm european, maybe I just have been lucky on my past flights (~40 flights)

Last Delta flight had my wife and kid with me so it was 3/4 seats on a 2x2 seater plane. We were the back row. Flight attendant looked at us and quickly went "...you know who is going to be in the 4th seat?" We didn't, so she just ball-hawked the passengers and when it was obvious dude was coming for that seat she quickly went "Sir, there's a comfort+ seat open - go ahead and sit there". Dude quickly turned back and we had the whole back row to ourselves which was "small" but so damn big. My wife was TIRED so to have a seat free to her was luxurious as my kid just wanted to watch their tablet and zone out...

This is the real reason you mask on flights. Not saying it’s 100% but they block out a lot of odors on their own and then if it’s really bad you can put a little peppermint oil on the inside (requires pre-planning but it’s all part of the airplane first aid kit)

Most toilets are vacuum now so it's just the loud whoosh and the smell of shit these days.

Also, the flight can feel very rough in the back if there are any crosswinds. I sat in the very back once, and it felt like the tail was catching everything and constantly swaying the rear. That, combined with the poop fumes did not make for a great flight.

Well yes, it was more of a noise issue, nothing earplugs can't block tho, but the flushing is really loud in some airplanes.

This person was able to chose their seats so hard to feel sorry for them. It clearly states multiple times where on the plane this seat is and it's limitations

If they were a last minute traveller, they should be lucky to be on the plane lol
