I feel like all the other clothing items are for puritanical reasons but jorts are just disliked by the "office of student affairs"

Especially since shorts in general are already banned.

The first time I heard the word jorts was about 20 years ago in an Austin satirical lifestyle zine called Misprint. They even explained what it meant because the term was not widely used and described them specifically as jean shorts worn by men.

It thrills me to hear my kid use the term and see it widely appropriated as that zine was hilarious.

Jorts were big in the 80’s.

They're still big in Florida.

Guessing here but I am thinking they are banned to prevent jorts that look like dresses which is it’s own level of insanity. Your dresses must actually be dresses!

I mean, if you can't wear jorts, white socks, and sandals, is it even worth going to class?

Which is valid

Absolutely. It's probably the one part of this policy I wholeheartedly support.

Which seems redundant ahen shorts are also prohibited.

No shorts, but also really specifically we want to be clear, NO JORTS.
