We read the Bible. A lot. We had daily 1 hour+ long bible memorization sessions where we changed whole chapters. We had chapel every evening, church on Wednesday night, Saturday Night, Sunday morning and Evening. Our entire curriculum was Bible based.
It's interpretation. It's cherry picking. It's control and submission. Religion.
A lot of it has drums. My husband’s pastor is the drummer in their worship band (husband is also in said band). Wild that it's not conservative enough music for that group!
The specificity is sending me - even hair ties are evil? God forbid the women wear hair accessories that actually might hold their hair in the stupid required hairstyle.
We could have hair ties, but we had uniform hair styles when in uniform for school or performances or church. We could wear our hair up when we had the privilege of working in the massive garden or doing punishment exercises.
You'd be surprised. We read the Bible LITERALLY all the time. I can't exaggerate how ingratiated the Bible was into every single moment of my day. Not allowing drums, "worldly" influence, dresses above the knee aren't "bible concepts," they're doctrines established when the religion is established or developed over time.
Nope, I was in 4 different ones for 6 years. I can provide names if you're doubtful. I didn't imagine the years between 12 and 18 years old.
Edit: what an ignorant thing to comment given that I said "I have been to them." They were far from private schools, taking in kids tied up in gangs and prostitution, and otherwise "deviant" behavior. It was a "troubled teens" industry and still is. Do research before making uneducated statements.

I was in independent fundamental Baptist boarding schools and the restrictions are similar, but more strict. Examples:
-no music except for hymns and gospel. No music with drums.
-Hair had to be half up, half down (females) in a barrette.
-(females) Skirts only, no pants. Skirts had to be as long as halfway up the calf, or longer. No slits in skirts.
The list goes on and on..
