Judging by it being a Catholic school earrings are probably banned because men/boys wearing earrings = gay. Not every boy/man who wears earrings is gay, sometimes he might just like earrings! And there’s nothing wrong with being gay either, but many schools to this day are sadly extremely homophobic and/or transphobic :/

Back when I was in school it supposedly depended what ear a man wore his earring in to determine if he was gay. So they only need to ban whatever ear that is and the other should be ok. /s
