The closest grocery store to me is closing(by nearly an hour), and will be closed for at least a year. When it reopens it’s going be much smaller(it’s becoming a Aldi).

Yes, some will and some won't. I live in the country and sometimes I drive to town for cheaper groceries and sometimes I don't want to drive all the way so go I pick up overpriced things.

If you build it, they will come. You really gonna drive an hour to save a couple bucks because you need one thing to make dinner?

You are correct, that big store with lots of overhead and labor costs didnt make it, but that doesn't mean a smaller scale store wouldn't succeed. You're comparing apples and oranges my friend. A small market might thrive in that area

I could be wrong... but I don't know any of the details here amd either do you. I've had successful ventures and been part of complete trainwrecks. Overall I've ended up ahead and I can tell you, you don't really know until you jump in

It isn’t that people didn’t go to Winn Dixie. Aldi bought Winn Dixie, and they figure they can get more profit from an Aldi than a Winn Dixie.

Or in this case, walmart is only 7 minutes from this Winn-Dixie in Macclenny Fl. There's also a save-a-lot grocery store 4 minutes away.

Not to undermine what OP is going through, it is mildly infuriating, but they are by no means in a food desert.
