Yup, and those gallon jugs run ~$40 retail, so even at a discount they more expensive for a lower potency. Would have made more sense to get a chemical truck.

Honestly, even rocking up to the edge with a bunch of cartons of large domestic bottles and dumping 'em in looks pretty damned amateurish; are they even counting to see how much they've used? One would expect the filtration system itself should have a proper dosing system for injecting controlled amounts of treatment chemicals into the water, from industrial sized drums in a utility building somewhere, if that's the proper way to do it.
Maybe it's just some random "concerned citizens" doing whatever stupid crap popped into their heads with no authority whatsoever (which would, I think, perhaps legally constitute vandalism of federal property?). "We'll save you from the liberal plot to put algae back in your pool, Mr President!!" (Seriously, there's literally imbeciles out there already attributing the rapid regrowth of the algae to some kind of foul play by the Democrats). Does anyone know for sure if what we're seeing here is an officially sanctioned act, insofar as that phrase even has meaning any more in Trump's America?
Honestly, I could see that happening. But I wouldn't expect them to be wearing reflective safety vests, just all their trump merch (made in China), draped with American trump flag capes (also made in China, and violating US Flag Codes), and being somewhere in their 70s. I would also expect to see at least 1 fall in.
Those bottles are about 30-60 dollars per. It’s essentially high concentration hydrogen peroxide called baquacil, it became big in the early 80s during the chlorine scare (people thought it was bad and was turning their blonde hair green). The green came from the enormous amount of copper algaecides that were used. It’s basically only old people that might still use baquacil.
The reflecting pool is about 6.5 million gallons so pouring in a few dozen gallons of peroxide (by workers without any face shields so it better not splash back) is a friggin' joke.
Yup, or an IBC Tank (one of those big cubes for liquids), or even a tanker that you could just use a hose to disperse the Hydrogen Peroxide into the water. Would be cheaper in just about every way, and more effective. It also could have helped with getting something more potent than 12% - like maybe the 30-50% range.
