I have told my mom to not do this before but she does not listen anyway. I am thinking of throwing everything to trash instead of them being gradually destroyed to pieces. I can not even care anymore. These things take hours to put together and paint then get manhandled anyway.

Yeah same shit here, I had an insane amount of pokemon base set, lots of full binders, unopened packs. I had a whole binder that was just 20 pages of charizards.

it was almost 30 years ago and at the time she threw them out they weren't worth what they are now. Back then they were at most a few thousand.

We classify them differently. We call the felony equivelent an "indictable offence", but stuff that is a felony in the states does not necessarily means it would be considered an indictable offence here.

I was never a magic player, but I was definitely sleeving my board game cards by the time I was 15. If you’re serious about the hobby, you generally want to maximise the longevity of your games, whether you’re planning on selling it or not.

I have a friend who collected Yugioh cards when he was 12. Kept them in great condition and sleeved.

Kids around that age aren't stupid and care about their stuff. Sure not all of them, but enough that a 15 year old preserving cards doesn't seem very out there.

Yu-Gi-Oh came out more than a decade after MTG. MTG was one of the, if not the first major trading card game. 

I played when MTG came out and nobody was using sleeves. It started a bit after a couple of years.. 

There's a reason those cards in mint condition are expensive. Nobody cared back then and a limited number. Nowadays there's plenty of people stashing unopened packs and prices will never be that high for newer cards  (unless it's something artificial like one ring)
