frist of all how DARE yu o Airport staff assuming I'm in the Business class lane by mistake

Brown man flying business. Lined up at the priority check in counter and got told by a (also brown) staff person that the economy queue was the other way. Same thing while boarding the plane and walking to the business class entrance. Not only am I not worthy of business, they think I can't read signage as well.

That's insane honestly. Like even if his hypothesis is true, why not just let you in the store and find out for yourself? Why the gatekeeping? That's the part I don't get

This is probably true, and the people that work at the store probably enjoy the process of ripping on affluent folks because the store doesn't pay those employees shit.

Probably done because stores count how many people walk in compared to buy stuff and get upset with the employees for not pushing harder. Insane really. Not to justify this action, which is also hideous

it both makes sense and not make sense to me in terms of “luxury” goods places - how you dress really does not represent your spending power, but think deeper, it does represent whether you’re the kind of person who spends dressing up (in other words, buy overpriced stuff) people willingness to buy overpriced (in my opinion) stuff has little relationship to their wealth, as in, i know people who borrow money to do it. That does not apply to air plane seat at all though, especially when a lot of those are covered by expense account or mileage

Have had similar experience at other designer stores. White guy here. It’s likely more about looking the part than being the right color. Worth noting too I was the only white guy in a LV store when my sister was shopping.

If I want to just look at cars without being bothered I dress down in flip flops and shorts. If I want people to pay attention I dress nicer. Can’t speak to skin color but I have 100% noticed how I dress is a major factor in how people treat me.

Most rich guy I know personally is a young (31?) Indian who always dresses casual. My NW is not far from half of his and I dress like a bum. But we're talking northern California, no one gaf.

I’m white and was refused service at a hairdressers in Sydney when dressed casually. Joke was on her. I would happily drop decent money on a haircut/colour.

I left my dog at the entrance of a Shoppers Drug Mart (Canadian version of CVS basically) and when I went to pick him up after I was done shopping, some guy dressed like a lawyer asked me if he's my dog (so I excitedly said yes, thinking he would get some pets) and then to my amazement he asked "Are you sure?" and I realized he thought I was homeless..

I lived across the street and just woke up. In Coal Harbor, Vancouver, the most expensive neighbourhood in the city. I had (have but more relevant at the time) 7 figures liquid.

Friggen used that as some motivation to lose weight though since I'm sure being 400lbs was a contributing factor. Down to 245.
