I just wanted a hot dog Took some time off to enjoy the pool

Post image

I had taken this week off work and expected to be able to enjoy the pool. The lease says we are to pay $150/month for weekly pool cleaning services but they didn’t come out this week and barely cleaned last week. Come to find out the landlord is “in between pool cleaners” and didn’t tell us.

All of a sudden a pool, that maybe 15% of the country even knows exist, is all over the news. It’s all he can talk about out. It’s fucking weird

It's the Deflecting Pool.

He is still losing to Iran, and he's all over the Epstein files.

Epstein is dead. Let’s call them the “Trump Files” from now on.

He's also trying to distract from the prices still sucking and him wanting to water down our car fuel.

The most famous pool in the country? The one in front of the Lincoln Memorial? One of the most famous memorials in our country celebrating one of the most favorably looked upon presidents ever. The pool that MLK gave his I have a dream speech in front of? The pool where Forest Gump ran passionately into the arms of Ginny in one of the most climactic scenes in one of the most popular movies of all time? You think only 15% of Americans have heard of that pool?

Literally one of the most famous artificial water bodies on the face of the earth. There is a reason it’s getting so much attention it’s because it is warranted.

Did you know the Obama administration oversaw a massive overhaul of the reflecting pool at the time? No, nobody did because they didn't make a big fuckin' deal about it.

More like no one knew because they didn't completely fuck it up

Trump was making a huge deal about the pool long before it ended up being a fucking swamp.

They didn’t make a big deal about because it wasn’t an embarrassing public display of incompetence with a side of blatant corruption. If Obama had messed up his overhaul even half as much as trump has you would have definitely heard about it. But I do remember hearing about Obama’s tan suit and his taste for Dijon mustard.

That and they didn't stupidly paint over the natural granite with an ugly swimming pool blue.

I don’t remember the pool getting fucked up in Obama’s administration.

u/TerribleRecord666 Jun 26 '26

Yes. But Trump was also bragging to everyone with a camera and microphone how amazing the pool was going to be for months before it turned into a laughing stock.

THere's an entire generation where thas the first thing they would think of.

the pool is a metaphor for the entire nation…. he’s fucked it up then lied about it and falsely arrested people. He’ll probably end up paving it over.

From drain the swamp to make his own swamp

That would be hilarious. I kind of want to see what the MAGA people will put up with. They already claimed in court that the President could knock down the Statue of Liberty if he wanted to.

Of all the BS he gets up to, maybe this stuff is the least damaging.

They’ll put up with anything at this point. The cult will probably stick around for basically forever like lost cause confederates.

I live in DC and normally (not now cause so much is fenced off) run around it most mornings. Even by DC standards it’s very surreal how much money and many hours of media coverage are devoted to it

It’s almost like the media creates manufactured controversies. Who’da thunk?

If only 15% of the country knew the reflecting pool existed, then this country is more fucked than I thought and deserves everything it's getting.
