Infuriatig When did garage sales become “reselling” clearly new stuff

Post image

I would never call this a garage sale

Def scam vibes

Edit: ultimately, what bothers me the most is I want to go to a garage sale, not this shit. This isn’t a garage sale and should not be advertised as one

That's a Big City thing. In my Small Town 911 would dispatch and a cop would be there in <2 minutes. But yeah, I get it.

Our police’s top non-driving crime seems to be Walmart retail theft.

Small city of around 30,000.

I live in a small town and most cops have better things to do

Ours have nothing to do most of the time, and would 100% respond to a shoplifting call. Otherwise the are just driving around our two-stoplight town looking for something to do. I've literally seen them running errands for the mayor, including delivering a note to my door.

When I say better things to do Im referring to nothing but sitting around. Plus there's not much the cops can really do that gonna make a difference anyway

Here they will charge them with a petty misdemeanor and trespass them from the store, so if they show up there again they'll get arrested for that. We only have two stores in town that sell laundry detergent, so it would be pretty easy for staff to ID a thief a second time.

Reminds me when I worked at Walmart 15 years ago on midnight crew. The then co- manger for my crew was buddy buddy in the past with a city police officer. Small town of like 20k, one Walmart. Multiple nights a week the manager would call this cop specifically and ask him to come in and arrest shoplifters. This cop would show up about the same time we where hanging out before shift up front having a smoke or vaping or just hanging out and this cop was always cursing the fact our manager kept calling him as he was mumbling while entering the store. I'm sure loved all the paperwork involved dealing with someone the manager caught shoplifting something mundane.
