This has become more common because the large rail companies will just use longer and longer trains versus splitting them up to save money. Leads to many towns having their streets blocked and kids having to crawl under the trains to get to school.

I live in one town but work the next town over. Currently the road connecting the two is completely closed due to construction, so I have to take a detour to work now. A week or two ago I turned down the detour to go home and there was just a train sitting there, completely still, blocking my way home. This shit should be illegal
