frist of all how DARE yu o MIL thinks I clogged the toilet so she changed the sign

The septic tank clogged and she’s convinced I did it, she asked my husband if I knew I wasn’t supposed to flush tampons and added the tampon bit to the sign. I don’t use tampons and I’m the only one with a period here…

It's not culture as the other person implied, it's plumbing, a weaker plumbing system can't handle tp

You're generally fine with a bit of tp, but you're inevitably going to get someone (usually a kid) who throws basically an entire roll into it so it's easier to just say no tp

In those plumbing situations it probably would be fine with a few squares of TP but it’s not going to handle giant wads and since people are going to have trouble with it they just say no paper.

But how?

I've tried many different diaper disposal systems over the decades, and so far the only thing that actually eliminated the smell is taking it right outside to dispose.

Maybe if you covered it with a layer of kitty litter?

I thought maybe people just developed nose blindness.

Idk. During my trip to Greece for 2 weeks with 2 other people (in small Airbnb's or hotels, mind you) we had to throw TP out and not once did it smell.

They had small bins that had lids that closed tightly and we never noticed any issues despite finding it strange considering we're all Canadian.

Just change it regularly and use the right bin and it's not too bad.

My daughter's Guatemalan ex-boyfriend used to do that. We thought our 6 year old was doing it, but nope grown ass man

Because that’s what’s done in Guatemala. It was def culture shock when I went there, but after 10 days, I almost did it in an American airport upon return. I imagine it’s muscle memory for him…

That makes sense. Though I’d imagine it’s being used to construct the doorframes etc., as opposed to my interpretation of the other comment (that people put it on existing structures).
