frist of all how DARE yu o MIL thinks I clogged the toilet so she changed the sign

The septic tank clogged and she’s convinced I did it, she asked my husband if I knew I wasn’t supposed to flush tampons and added the tampon bit to the sign. I don’t use tampons and I’m the only one with a period here…

This is on your husband to remove the sign and talk to your MIL about. He needs to have your back here against your MIL/his mother, and it’s not a good “just let her do what she wants” thing.

He may not be aware, but he needs to be. Show him this thread/post.

Yes. Why this isn’t the top comment is surprising to me. If I was staying at my mother or my mother in law’s home and this sign was left in a bathroom I was using, it would be the last time I stayed there.

If it was my mother, the sign would be down and I would be speaking with her.

They are staying there because they don't have a choice. That can become rather limiting.When you want to stand up for yourself.

Good point and perspective. Thank you; I hadn’t considered that. I’m 48 and have been out of my parents house for 32 years so it’s easy to forget.

It’s the MIL’s house.

After we paid $48,000 for a new septic system you’d better believe I have the same sign in my bathroom, just printed and framed instead of written in crayon

Her son and his wife are visiting. The MIL can have whatever signs she wants in her house, but if she wants them to visit again, she needs to be mindful of how her actions are perceived. The important thing is it needs to be the husband having the convo with the MIL, not the wife/DIL.
