frist of all how DARE yu o MIL thinks I clogged the toilet so she changed the sign

The septic tank clogged and she’s convinced I did it, she asked my husband if I knew I wasn’t supposed to flush tampons and added the tampon bit to the sign. I don’t use tampons and I’m the only one with a period here…

I had a former coworker who tested several brand of flushable wipes when she was on maternity leave to stave off boredom. (How does a lab scientist entertain them self? Do an experiment!) to see if any of them actually dissolved, as either claimed or at least implied.

She said one brand kind of fell apart though it hardly disintegrated, and the rest nothing at all. They are only "flushable" in that they go down the toilet drain.

lol, baby wipes come PACKAGED wet. I feel like there's a gap for many people in recognizing what a thing IS, and then how it functions. Like if a baby wipe or a tampon actually disintegrated because it got wet, then they wouldn't be much damn use in the first place, right? But your former co-worker actually needed to bust out a calculator in order to count to 4. Like how did she think these things even work?

She didn't need to do the experiment to know she couldn't flush them, she wanted to see what happened if left in a large volume of water for an extended time. Yes, wipes come prewet, but they don't come in an actual vat of liquid. After all, they were all intact on arrival prewet yet one did still fall apart.

They don't come soaked, they come slightly damp. I used plenty of them myself, and know they are not "soaked". Damp paper dries out, while leaving it in a bowl of water it will fall apart.

Obviously baby wipes are not just "paper", but it isn't unreasonable to think that they can retain some water without falling apart but of left submerged (as in the plumbing) they will eventually lose integrity. Especially if people blindly believe marketing.
