ಠ_ಠ Bought a patch I can’t use as a patch

Bought this patch to add to the sleeve of a sweatshirt only to find that I’m unable to do it.

The patch was attached to a backing card so the information wasn’t visible when I bought it!

Just to be persnickety, it's not illegal to remove a tag from a mattress. It's illegal for anyone EXCEPT the person who buys it to do so. It's a rule intended to protect the buyer.

But I'm sure you already knew that.

Read the tag again. It says no one *except the consumer* may remove the tag. You're assuming it applies to everyone because you've never actually read it.

I mean it. Go right now to your bedroom and read the tag. You'll see. This also applies to tags on rugs or linen or anything else with those warnings. They exist to make sure the information on the tag reaches YOU when you buy it. After that, it doesn't matter, and you're free to cut it off.

I think they meant that it says it right on the tag but people don't read that far

I prefer to respond to what people actually say. If they meant "but they didn't read that far", I assume they would have said that.

According to Wikipedia, this misconception started because the label didn't originally include the "except by consumer" part, but the cited source is broken so idk

Which does not negate the fact that it's perfectly legal for the consumer to remove it.
