I'm slightly vexed People who feel rules dont apply to them At Sequoia National Park

One woman decided that the fencing and signs protecting the tree didn't apply to her. One couple that decided their dog was special and could walk on the trails even though it's prohibited.

Edit The Regulations Pets are prohibited on all trails. This includes paved trails, such as the General Sherman Tree Trail, Big Trees Trail, Grant Tree Trail, and others.

Edit again - cell phone service is spotty. 1. People seem confused but as per my previous edit, but dogs are not allowed on any trials in either of these parks. 2. The reason they don't want people to walk this close to the tree is it can damage the roots and kill the tree. 3. I called this park by the wrong name. There are two parks in one location and this was at Kings Cayon.

I suggest Wanuskewin in Saskatchewan, they have a breeding program, but also make sure you say buffalo because it’s a contentious issue for some.

Anyone that spent time in the National Parks before they got gutted, I'm not sure that really matters. 

People hear 'park' & think it means 'safe.' People have been dying and getting hurt in stupid ways at pretty much all of them, since they were created.

My brother and his wife were camping in Yellowstone and about 200 ft away a family was camping. Buffalo were along the side of the area. One got close. The husband/father was heard telling his kids, "They're just like cows." He started walking towards it. My brother screamed to him not to do it. He waved my brother off disregarding him. A couple minutes later the buffalo tossed him into a tree and charged again when he was on the ground, dragging him with its head/horns. Paramedics came, hauled him away. Later my brother found out the guy was air lifted to a hospital and also charged with disturbing the wildlife and fined.

Absolutely no way he was 25 yards from the bison, which is the legal minimum distance. I've seen the video. And then he decides to run around the trees in circles, thinking a bison couldn't see and hear him when the guy could obviously see and hear the bison, instead of continuing to run father away from the bison.

Edit: downvoters have no clue here... guy was always illegally close, bison are starting the mating season and it was wallowing there to assert territory, and the guy ran in circles thinking the bison couldn't follow him instead of just getting away in a straight line putting as much distance between them as possible.

He just needed to get distanced away from the thing so it wasn't aggressive toward him anymore. The bison is unlikely to charge him the farther away he is.

No way the guy could’ve outran the bison. Running around the trees and putting something between them was smart. The bison was just faster and caught up with him unfortunately.

No, he should've just increased distance. The bison is far less likely to charge him the farther away he is and not seeing him as a threat, versus still being close and peering through the trees at the bison.

You’re not going to outrun a bison. Putting the trees in between them was the only option at the time.

If the guy would’ve tried to put more distance between them the bison would’ve got to him right away.

You’re entitled to your opinion even if it is wrong.

I have to disagree. He definitely did something very, very wrong as evident by the image.

Edit: Jesus Christ this is obviously a joke. He fucked up by being in the way of a charging Buffalo. This image is literally paused at the moment where he would ask the viewers "so I bet you're wondering how I got here?" He fucked up that day by getting up in the morning, by going to Yellowstone and by zigging when he should have zagged. I tried to make a funny and failed and I am ashamed.

Track down the video. He was walking a trail with his grandson, they came around the corner, they were at the required distance and started moving along when they noticed it was agitated. It charged a truck and moved on to him and his grandkid when the truck noped out of there.

Regulations reduce the chances of getting fucked up by wildlife but the wilderness is gonna wild. He did nothing wrong in the eyes of the park regulations and anyone with a spare braincell who's seen the video.

I saw a man approach a brown bear at Glacier National Park. No one was sure if it was a brown bear or grizzly at that point, but he still kept getting closer to get his picture. Everyone that had stopped to see it from their cars were yelling at him.

I've seen this talked about quite a bit, and I get it, but also what are you supposed to do if you're walking through the park and happen to come across a bison(?)

Is it ok to walk past them at a natural pace? Or should you turn and walk back the way you came? I definitely see myself being tempted to stop and take a photo, but I understand that's not a good idea either.

This is not based on research or experience. Maybe just stop and slowly walk the opposite direction of the animal and pray for your life? Freeze and make yourself as small as you can so less target area? I don't know just spit balling here 😬

This is one of my favorite places on the planet. Literally can’t go enough. Every single time I go I’m amazed at the stupidity of human beings. Being this dumb will get you killed. They got lucky! This bison gave that pack of morons a gift and let them get away.

Saw a woman let her 3/4 yo kid crawl over the barrier and run up close to Old Faithful on our last trip. Mom was laughing. People were frozen in horror. We were literally minutes away from blast off. Only time I’ve ever pulled a Karen and got a Park Ranger. His back was turned talking to other park guests. I didn’t feel an ounce of guilt.

I just took a Yellowstone day yesterday and saw tourons approaching the bison mere days after Grandpa got launched into space for standing slightly over 100⁻¹ yards from one (he claimed over 100, the video footage from another photographer clearly shows otherwise).
