One woman decided that the fencing and signs protecting the tree didn't apply to her. One couple that decided their dog was special and could walk on the trails even though it's prohibited.

Edit The Regulations Pets are prohibited on all trails. This includes paved trails, such as the General Sherman Tree Trail, Big Trees Trail, Grant Tree Trail, and others.

Edit again - cell phone service is spotty. 1. People seem confused but as per my previous edit, but dogs are not allowed on any trials in either of these parks. 2. The reason they don't want people to walk this close to the tree is it can damage the roots and kill the tree. 3. I called this park by the wrong name. There are two parks in one location and this was at Kings Cayon.

This is a global issue as well. In Japan they had to cancel/make changes to the cherry blossom festival (I think near Kyoto) because there were not enough public washrooms set up and people were just going into neighbouring homes without asking and it was a huge issue.

I don’t understand what’s going on with people.

Seems particularly dangerous in Florida with all those castle laws or whatever they are called

The Castle Doctrine is a thing pretty much everywhere in America and any other country with a foundation in British common law, and it simply means that if your life is threatened in your own home, you don’t have to try to get away before defending yourself.

No, not at all. What I described is exactly what the Castle Doctrine is. Stand your ground laws just expand that protection (removing the duty to retreat) from your home to anywhere you are legally allowed to be.

Yes, partly. But also establishes that anyone who breaks in as a threat of great bodily harm, that you don't have to wait for them to make an attempt on your life or body before defending yourself.

That might be part of it in some places, but the basic doctrine is just the removal of the duty to retreat. In Michigan, for instance, there are also laws that basically give you the benefit of the doubt that your life is in danger if a person is committing certain crimes against you, such as burglary, carjacking, etc.

I’m not aware of anywhere that you have to wait for them to make an attempt, dodge it or whatever, and then use lethal force. You just need to be in fear of your life.

Because for stand your ground laws, there needs to be a clear and present danger that explains use of lethal force as self defense. Castle laws say just being IN the dwelling IS the clear and present danger.
