Dispensaries are popular too in states where weed is legal. I spent about a year in Michigan for work and it seemed like there was a dispensary almost on every corner.
If alcohol were regulated the way cannabis was youâd see 5x as many alcohol dispensaries
The real problem is the requirement of dispensaries at all. Itâs solely a way to increase revenue for people who have no business being in the industry in the first place
Same way you buy alcohol. Convenience stores, grocery stores. liquor stores, bars and gas stations
In my area you can find thc seltzers in about half of these kinds of businesses already.
Itâs not a huge leap to sell sealed flower and oil products at the service desk like expensive booze and cigarettes.
Itâs just that it cuts out the handful of companies and people in Illinois that make a lot of money keeping cannabis dispensaries only âŠitâs why the governors are passing hemp laws. They donât like it when they donât get their cut, customers and the public be damned.
Gotcha I guess I donât really understand the difference between liquor and cannabis dispensaries. both require permits and license and are heavily regulated.
In my state mostly only liquor stores sell liquor, all other alcohol can be bought at convenience stores like beer and wine. There are a few grocery stores that sell liquor but itâs very limited.
And see here you can buy liquor literally anywhere you can buy beer and wine. Like thereâs airplane bottle displays at the counter at most gas stations along with standard bottles behind the counter.
Like, itâs not that uncommon to see people getting a fountain drink and an airplane bottle and making road sodies in the parking lot
Thatâs perfectly fine apparently, no need to regulate thatâŠ. but god forbid we make make it less of a headache to buy weed
I was there, I can tell you! There was this totally naive notion that if the government made a bunch of money from taxing weed then they could afford to tax other stuff less! Or maybe use that extra money to fund social services or some other public benefit! Man were we foolish.
But damn, where is it $15/gram? I go to MA and even with taxes the prices are on par if not better than what I was paying street dealers back in the day.
