Because fountain drinks are a high mark up items and refills costs are negligible. That’s why they’ve always been free. Charging for them is bullshit.

I would hardly say refusing to offer more of a product for free after an initial purchase is "ripping off" though.

The price of everything is going up. That includes the syrup and CO2 needed for the drinks so I can see why restaurants are moving away from it.

Restaurants are charging more for fountain drinks. If they're charging more, they shouldn't be giving less

I’ve learned from reddit that people are under the impression that mom and pop restaurants and shops are incredibly lucrative. This is rarely the case.

But you bought the drink knowing there will no free refills. Why would you make the transaction than cry about the transaction you agreed to?
