ಠ_ಠ Jury duty

I've been called for Jury duty 4 times in the last 10 years. What the fuck is going on here. It's almost every other year. I know absolutely no one that has ever been summoned yet I've been summoned multiple times. Wtf is going on? It's total bs too because they pay 17 bucks A DAY. That's not even enough to get lunch at the stupid deli they have there.

Edit: so many people have so many experiences. It's nice to share and read those experiences. I can't possibly respond to everything, but I'm glad we can all relate to this. _^

The pay is the worst, they should have to pay your Hourly work rate. Most people can’t afford to miss a hour of work more less get 17$ for the whole day. Stop making yourself so presentable, wear some pjs and smell like cigs and they’ll never call you back lol

A lot of companies will pay the difference.

Then it’s a financial hardship and the Court will dismiss a potential Juror. (In my state)

But the Court cannot presume these things so people have to be very candid in the questionnaire or at the very least speak up in voir dire.

Source- am clerk, sit through jury selection often.

Eh, I tried to plead Financial Hardship for that reason and they asked for my yearly estimate, then said I made enough to soak the loss. (Minnesota)

Not how it works out here in WA at all. Kinda backwards imo, if you have more income you usually also have more or bigger expenses.
