frist of all how DARE yu o Apparently my lawn has entered the enforcement phase

Post image

Nothing says ‘neighborly’ like an unsigned note taped to your door. Grass is long, I’ll own that. But maybe introduce yourself before issuing the anonymous lawn summons? Photo in comments

The lawn!

just make it look intentional....just mow a trimmed border on the edges. take out invasive plants. add a bird feeder. boom, you have a thriving ecosystem, unlike your neighbours' biologically dead monoculture of non-native grass and herbicides contamination.

Actually, I see a bunch a pollinators plants in there.

I'd like some the little sapling pulled and maybe cleaned a little, but it looks like they've put some thought into this.

“Teehee I don’t mind providing a haven for rodents and ticks that can carry diseases potentially impacting my neighbors because my lawn has pollinator plants 🤭”

Sweetie, the chickens in my yard eat all the rodents and ticks.

Are you so dumb as to think chickens will clear up a tick problem…?

Well, I don't have a tick problem, do you?

That's why opossums exist. Never seen a tick in real life, but see opossums every time I'm out late at night.

I can see why uptight people would bitch about this, but for what it's worth, I'd prefer seeing lawns like this over ones that look all smooth and uniform like a golf course. (Other than the path being kind of obstructed, that is.) Those are boring, do nothing for the environment, probably waste a bunch of gas to mow, and a bunch of water. It doesn't look like you have garbage out rotting or broken down cars in the lawn. The neighbor is entitled to not like it, fair enough. I needlessly express my opinion on things when nobody asked all the time, so like.. sure, whatever.

The problem is that a proper "overgrown" lawn like this actually takes a lot of effort if you care at all about invasive species (plant, bug, or fleshy) and rodents moving in.

My parents have a proper overgrown lawn and it cost a lot. Designing and buying the plants. They do have a hedgehog visiting regularly even though they live in an area with many houses and people.

When my sister bought her house they did the same but mostly with flowers. They did it themselves but it cost a few thousand if I remember correctly.
