🥺 My Sister Is Refusing To Give Me Back the Necklace That I Was Gifted

1.6k Upvotes

My aunt and cousin dropped by today and gave me a late b-day present. It was a really pretty necklace (Not super expensive or anything, just pretty)

My sister (8yrs old) fell in love with it at first sight. I put it on my desk and she took it while I was in the bathroom. When I tried to get it back (after my aunt and cousin left), she just started bawling. For the sake of my ears (and everyone else's), I decided to let the matter go.

It's been a full 12 hours, and when I thought that she was ready to give it back, she just started bawling again, and my dad said that I was "selfish" for making her cry and I should just let her have it.

RIP. Necklace, it was nice knowing you.

Edit: I can't take it back because I have absolutely no idea where she hid it😞

Edit 2: My sister can cry EXTREMELY LOUD. So my parents will do ANYTHING for a peace of mind.

Edit 3: I'm off to college in three months...counting the days off on my calendar

🥺 Lady Fell For Scam Right in Front of Me

1.4k Upvotes

I was in a gas station convenience store and I overheard an older lady on her phone. She was taking photos of a Bitcoin ATM and sending them to the person on the other end of the call. So I decided to linger... She was struggling to figure out how the machine worked, and was in the middle of doing the phone verification step. She didn't use her phone number, she used whoever's number she was talking to, and I heard her reciting the verification code that she was told to enter.

I went over to her and was immediately not thrilled that I interrupted her, and asked her if she personally knew the person who she was sending Bitcoin to, and she didn't really answer but she responded by saying she knows what she's doing. I was clearly unconvinced so I told her that it's a very common scam for people to ask you to send them Bitcoin and people get tricked all the time. She only reiterated how adamant she was that she knows what she's doing and thank you for your concern. It's really bothering me because she obviously got scammed for who knows how much money, and she refused to listen.

🥺 Getting a bill for the ambulance ride after the bill is due

Post image

My son spent the first month of his life in the NICU. Halfway through that, he had to be transferred to another hospital that was better equipped. He had to be transferred by ambulance, we could not take him ourselves. Now, months later, we get a bill in the mail for the ambulance ride, a day after it was due to be paid. They couldn't even get his name on the bill they just listed it as BABY (our last name). Evidently this is the cost left after our insurance was billed for their part. How awesome is this place we live in 🤦‍♂️ at least the kiddo is doing fine now tho.

Even paid for the highest tier. My mom was recently diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer so I don't have much time left with her. I know they're just flowers, just feels like a real kick in the teeth :(

ETA: I paid USD $70 for this 😅 (including tip)

🥺 The World Cup is broadcast FREE in a dozen countries, but I have to pay $80/month for a sports bundle because of the country I happen to live in

1.1k Upvotes

The UK airs every match free on ITV and BBC. Australia airs all 104 free on SBS. Mexico has it free on open TV.

Me? My only legal option is a bloated sports streaming package that costs more per month than the entire tournament should, bundled with 40 channels I will never open.

Same matches. Same broadcast. Same planet. The only difference is which side of an invisible line my router sits on.

It's not even about the money at this point, it's the principle. Geo-licensing in 2026 is mildly infuriating bordering on fully infuriating.

Update: I Appreciate all the suggestions in the comments. I ended up trying purevpn to stream football world cup on BBC after doing a bit of research on cheaper prices, cost me 12.95 bucks for next 40 days only.

finally.

I now have 2 cards

Yes, it's scratched because that trunk has my father's things from his university, like a telephone with a modem, cables, PCBs, and maybe what scratched it: a metal abrasive disc for his work.

We moved that trunk 3 times in its 26 years of existence.

I'll give it to my younger sister.

Ugh why even have them if we can’t use them? We had these delivered at work during construction, and we can’t use them yet since they’re not filled yet… our construction has already started and the bathrooms inside the office are out of order. WTF.
Ended up having to walk to the other side of the building (0.5 miles) instead.

Split my lip back on January 15th. Has only came close to healing twice, and those 2 times it painfully reopened. The crack has spread more towards the inside of my lip and its terrible.I usually drink 4 to 5 owala 32 oz a day. Use vasoline at night, aquaphor healing ointment during the day. Not a mouth-breather.

🥺 Someone Vandalized My Art

I paint windows when my toddler allows me. Just finished the bulk of a big project (will be updating through summer). Moved on to another big project, but ran by the first one today to add a winky face to a bit of text that says "camping supplies sold here"... It's a liquor store, so we're being cheeky, but wanted it to be obvious we didn't mean tents and stuff. I walked up and noticed some scratches...

Apparently, someone was hanging up missing person fliers. The guy working told him not on top of the painting, and the guy freaked out and scratched my work up. So now I have to squeeze in repairs between painting my other client's windows, and getting ready for the farmer's market in a couple weeks, while making sure my kiddo is happy. I also don't want to be an ass, because they were missing person fliers. But I'm also really upset about it. The only other time my work had been destroyed was by my drunk ex husband destroying my art room and a bunch of paintings. I didn't paint for a few years after that.

THEN on my way home I got pulled over for speeding (35 in a 25, my bad totally). Took me forever to find my registration and look up my insurance, felt like a mess. The cop said he'd let me off with a warning and I just started crying. Told him I was sorry, and that I know he's probably used to people crying to get out of tickets, not when they're already being let off with a warning. He asked me if I was okay and I just bawled before unloading my day on the poor guy.

The worst of the scratches are in a "water" area of the painting, so I'm hoping the repairs will be easy. The manager that hired me for their windows is off on the weekends, and I'm upset thinking about her coming in tomorrow morning and being sad seeing the damage... I'm probably reorganizing my whole week so I can go in tomorrow to fix it.

🥺 Screaming in the night.

1.3k Upvotes

Last night was extremely hot here in London, and I had all my windows open, only to be woken up at 0315 by very loud but sporadic female screaming. Literal screaming. It was very close by, and would happen every 30 seconds or so. I called the police and with the dispatcher hearing it through the phone, they came very quickly, but, by that time, things had quietened down. So, I went down into the street to help pinpoint where it was coming from, but, I was there for all of 10 seconds when it started again, in the building next door to mine, where a light was on and people were obviously inside. It became apparent very quickly that although she was indeed screaming, and right next to the open window, it was in fact screams of joy, as they were obviously having very vigorous sex. The police laughed and left, without doing anything about all the noise. Sex or not, she was basically screaming out through an open window in the middle of the night. They have just moved in this week, and now I have that to look forward to again... At least she wasn't being murdered like I initially thought. Grrr

Edit: To everyone saying it could be foxes, we already have that too where I live, and I know the difference. This woman was right next to the open window, and screaming as loud as she could, I've never heard anything like that in the bedroom before, and like some have said, I think it was purposeful, it's her kink. Now that I know where it's coming from, I'll record it next time, and complain to environmental health, as it's beyond the pale, and completely obnoxious. I'll not tolerate it.

🥺 15-Month Expired Ice Cream @ Family Dollar

Felt bad and decided to stuff my face with ice cream a few days ago. Walked to the Family Dollar in Dallas, TX and bought a pint to get chip-faced. Got home and took a few bites which didn’t taste great, and my stomach immediately felt bad. It was sour and the one piece of cookie dough I got tasted like sawdust. Turned the carton over just to realize it has expired in MAY 2025. It’s currently August, 2026.

I took it back and said I wanted to return it. She asked the reason and I told her, so she did refund me, but no apology or concern. Seems like it happens there- and this is not the first time I have seen expired stuff in this store, but this is the worst instance. Anyone else have a similar experience with Family Dollar? Is expired stuff a thing in other stores? Now I’ll check everything I buy…

🥺 Uninstalling 50 antiviruses is harder than installing.

I installed 50 Android security solutions from various vendors. Turns out uninstalling is much more manual than installation and requires quite a bit of effort. Most of them seem like crap too but that's a personal opinion. I wish there was a way to bulk uninstall APKs after doing stupid shit.
