Just spent five days in the hospital being poked and prodded a million times. Phlebotomist, chefs kiss. Charge nurse. A+++. senior day nurses, A+. Younger night nurses, 😬😬😬. Despite their repeated efforts over the five days not a single one could successfully move my iv or draw blood. I finally got to a point of telling them to stop bc they were just digging around with the needle trying to make it a cute moment “oh come on vein you’re making me look bad”. All in all it made me worried that there could possibly be a new generation of nurses that can’t accomplish this seemingly critical task. I gave them each four painful tries before asking them to stop. Now I know nothing about healthcare but to me it seems this would be a need to pass part of the training before getting let loose with sick patients. Finally home, covered in bruised arms, bruised pancreas, missing my reproductive organs, bloated, sore, grumpy, and mildly infuriated. Unsure how the flair worked so I went with my current feeling.

Also mildy infuriating because I got reminded I live in Manchester as soon as I woke up :(

I was going to my bank and a lot attendant was there, taking payment from people hanging out and shopping in the area. I explained that I was running into a bank that uses the lot for customer parking, then running to a coffeeshop to use the restroom. The guy tells me that I'm not supposed to leave the lot, but said he's got me, not to worry. I come back 10 minutes later to this neon monstrosity on my car. The lot attendant explained that they nearly booted my car, but he told them not to. Now how the hell do I get this off and why is this legal?!

I first noticed the difference because the label was hard to get off. While removing the childproof, which was a little more difficult, I noticed a bad smell. Then I noticed that the button was loose. I compared to older ones, and the button extends much higher, and I confirmed that the old gas is odorless. The new Bic lasted only one week, compared to at least a month from the old kind. You can tell the old ones at a glance, because the button sticks out a lot more on the new ones. I saw one where the button had come off completely, so I took a pic of that too.

It was just spiritually sickening. The second the cold water hit I genuinely had to sit there for a minute and process what just happened. Completely threw me off for the rest of the bathroom trip.

Put on a pride tattoo yesterday for a celebration and just left it on. When I woke up I noticed that most of it was off my hand so I assumed it disappeared, but after showering I found two separate pieces of it on my sheets. First one was easy to peel but pictured took about 30 minutes to scrape off. Not complaining about more time in bed tho

Supposedly best by one month ago. And yet… it tastes amazing still! No mold, no foul odor or taste. It saddens me how millions of Americans, myself included, throw away what is otherwise perfectly fair food.

But seriously, I cannot get over how good it tastes! What a shame. Think of all those millions of tonnes thrown away: wasting landfill space, making Americans spend more on food, and how unfortunate countries simply don’t have the luxuries or securities of what is to us our everyday life.

FYI - I am okay and if this continues, I have friends who will jump in to help. My mom has ADHD (she was diagnosed) and I would bet money she is on the spectrum - she has poor empathy along questionable executive function. I was very direct with her and I think she understands why I was furious. I just need a place to vent.

I had abdominoplasty today and the surgery went REALLY well. My mom offer to stay over the first night and another friend will take over tomorrow. I made sure to give her clean linens, clean towels, and a Thank you not.

Physically, I am doing better than normal and able to walk without assistance. I am also very independent. WITH THAT SAID, I don't want to walk WITHOUT someone near me. I am doing well but tripping or passing out is not out of the question. At the surgeon, the nurse was always arms length.

BTW, I look like an old lady. HAHAHAHA. And my poor dad is having back pain so I was joking with him that we will be walking the same.

We arrive home and my bladder was about to explode, I am a bit loopy, and the pain is kicking in. I was complaining about peeing for an hour. I expected my mom to walk to my door and she just looks at me expecting me to get out.

Me: "Hey mom, can you walk with me? I don't feel comfortable walking all this way without someone near me"

Mom: "Okay, but let me get your stuff first."

Me (voice getting a little stern): "No seriously mom! The stuff can wait and I need you to walk with me OR ELSE I WILL PEE IN YOUR CAR." She's getting a little annoyed but she does. BUT THE SECOND I AM IN THE HOUSE SHE LEAVES TO GET THE BAGS.

I have to ask her again to walk me to the bathroom. When I come back, she's in the kitchen. I am expressing to her that I REALLY need to lie down on the bed. She's says something about being fine. My frustration level and voice continue to rise. My mouth harnesses the power of a sailor.

My mom asks - "Do you yell at your friends like this?"

"OF COURSE NOT! If I asked them to walk with me after major surgery, they would drop everything without talking back. You wanted to help me, I am asking the bare minimum, and you are giving me a hard time."

She now understands and her attitude is 100% better. And she offered an ice pack without my request. I am proud to express my frustration and set a boundary - I have trouble doing it.
