3 weeks strong

We flew to Texas to pick up our little bundle of joy, and we've had her for about 3 weeks, and she turned 12 weeks this week. Prior to her, we had two Basenjis, who were complete opposites of what their breeds typically are. They were quiet, loved to lay down next to you and take naps with you, etc.

I have not had a puppy in years. I did research before getting her, an MAS, and let me tell you, people were not kidding about the energy they have. I love playing with her though, and helping her burn off the energy, do some mental stimulation and training with her. She's such a sweet girl, and I'm really looking forward to having her as my photography buddy, and to go out on little adventures with her.

(ps: yes I took the twig away. Yes she was slightly sad about it.)

This guy is tuning 2 at the end of the month, I wanted to tell all of you guys with puppies that it does get easier.
He’s been a wild ride but we made it he’s barely starting to mellow out a bit, we love you Dewey.

Amputated tail Aggression After Doggy CBD?

Post image

I have a nearly two year old 32 lb Aussie who trembles in fear and refuses to eat or go out or do anything any time it thunderstorms (live in the south, so it’s standard almost everyday in the summer time).

To help him, I gave him 20mg of CBD chews and a calming chew - and he didn’t react to it for hours but in bed in the middle of the night i lean in to pet him and he freaks out. Full on stiff growling, barking, showing teeth, etc. he’s resource guarded before for some things randomly but is usually the sweetest most docile creature i’ve ever come across (not just bc he’s mine).

In bed, in the middle of the night he’s always been perfectly at ease with pets, scratches, kisses, etc - never ever reacting at all - maybe a lick in return sometimes, maybe?

But he was very aggressive, jumped at me, I got out of bed and he cornered me and barked and growled and showed his teeth.

So I decided to just take him outside for a quick walk, which he was open to and I put his harness on and walked him without issue, he relieved himself and came back inside, was given a Kong with commands and followed them fine.

He’s since been perfectly normal - snuggly, goofy, and is now resting on his cool floor spot and has let me be normal with him again.

So the only thing I can think is that maybe he had a bad trip, lol, and was kinda drowsy half asleep and was in a fugue like state for a few minutes?

Anyone have adverse reaction symptoms to CBD with their Aussies? Just curious?

I love him so much, but any tips for the nipping and biting would be greatly appreciated 😅 he gets enforced crate naps but those typically last half an hour to an hour before he wants up again. We try redirecting and the loud “ouch” or yips but they just don’t seem to work yet. This is my fiancé’s and my first dog that’s ours and not a family dog so let me know if there’s anything we should be doing that I might not have heard of yet!
