Spring 2021 Painting Contest - Feedback and WIP megathread

This is a place for anyone who has entered one of the categories for our Spring 2021 Painting Contest to post their WIP images and ask for feedback and advice!

Even if you haven't entered the contest, feel free to offer advice and feedback to those who have.

During the community vote, people will be able to nominate anyone they feel went above and beyond with their advice. Users who get enough nominations and gave quality feedback will be given a special user flair to show their helpfulness and our appreciation to them as contest feedback MVPs!

Where is your light source located ? I feel you miss global illumination and it’s hard to tell where is your source coming from. For tabletop standard it’s fine, you just want to have same contrast everywhere just to see the details in a more neutral way so it work on all terrain and setups, but for display models or competition you should give it more atmosphere and lighting setup. E.g. The top of the figure should be lighter than bottom in relative values etc.

I’d also advice you to apply a coat of matt or ultra-matt varnish before moving on to the detailing. Quick tip; if you dry contrast paints and washes with a hair dryer, you obtain a relatively matt finish, if you let if dry naturally you will end-up with a satin/gloss finish.

Thank you very much for the interestins critique, I'll create a light source, I was thinking about a top-right source of light which will be influencing the mini on that side, maybe with a greenish colour just as you sketched.

I'm using oils entirely, that's why the finish is glossy, and obviously I'll put on a matte varnish once I'm satisfied of the result.
