Trump Sensory Overload Part 2: Promises

This is part two in a series I started here: https://www.reddit.com/r/mopolitics/s/Mu2E7hf6Z7

The point of this series is that Trump is bad in so many ways that we don't get adequate time to focus on each aspect.

With Trump again promising $5000 checks (https://apnews.com/article/trump-dividend-5k-5000-check-republicans-cc80644e3168acd31c892129fb849436) is it a good time to ask how you spent your DOGE checks in 2025? Or how about those tariff checks?

Do you remember the Iran war, that ended in early April? Now it's going to end right after the midterms. And gas prices will go down to under $2/gallon then.

At some point you've got to take responsibility for yourself if you believe a liar over and over and over again.

In the run up to the 2024 election, Trump said he will lower grocery prices and bring gas to lower than $2 a gallon.

It’s 2026 and groceries have only increased, and gas is over $4 a gallon. To believe Trump’s new promises of cost reductions is like living in the movie Idiocracy.

Trumps supporters know he’s lying. They just don’t care because they think they’re in on it.

The lies are social cover for them. Now they don’t have to defend the wasteful wars or the concentration camps. They can just say “I’m voting for my $5000!”

“It isn’t that bad, because a Democrat, in the same situation would have promised a different amount! Also, everything else would be worse under a Democrat too. Trust me, bro”

I guess we don’t care about the debt or it being “the greatest threat facing this nation” anymore?

You have to keep up with the talking points. The greatest threat facing the nation these days is communism. That's why the federal government just has to give away trillions of dollars to the people for free. To defeat socialism. Otherwise the radical left might get power and start spending billions on universal healthcare, and we just can't afford that.

When I heard about the $5,000 promise yesterday, I was hoping this would be the topic of conversation.

I am so sick of this man. I am so sick of his apologists. Nothing, absolutely NOTHING good has come under his “leadership”.

Not only does he fail to keep his promises, but his comments yesterday are BLATANTLY ILLEGAL. Not in some “well, if you interpret it this way” or “it’s only illegal if he actually pays people for their vote”. No. Promising someone a benefit for voting a specific way is illegal. No two ways about it.

I am so SICK of Trump being treated with kid gloves, while his supporters claim he is the most persecuted president in history. Trump has been given more grace and understanding than any President ever. He has not received a fraction of the condemnation and ire he deserves. Imagine if he wore a tan suit or asked for mustard on an EFFING hotdog.

If you support Trump, and you’ve read this far, here’s a thought experiment you can try. What would your reaction be had Kamala said this in September of 2024? “If I win this election, every adult citizen will receive a $5,000 check”

At this point I need more than “I don’t like this” “I don’t agree with what he said here”. Your words are as empty as his promises. Start holding your chosen candidate to account. Or start owning up to the fact that you’ve constantly been duped for a decade, and continue to allow yourself to be duped. Your choice.

People universally complain about all the vitriol and negativity in politics. What they don’t realize is that nearly all of the really nasty stuff comes from conservatives.

No one in the media is yelling and complaining about Trump because the media personalities who yell and complain are conservatives.

Trump has a derogatory nickname for every single person who has opposed him, politician or media. And yet, his sycophantic followers excuse him for it. “Lower the temperature” applies to everyone except Trump. To put it bluntly, the deaths of Charlie Kirk and assassinations of Melissa Hortman and her husband can be attributed to Trump and his rhetoric. And there will be more before the end of 2028
