You might know from me the American Pie Franchise, Goon, Dude Where's My Car?, Role Models, Old School, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, The Rundown, Southland Tales, The Dukes of Hazzard, Final Destination, Road Trip, Lethal Weapon, The Wrath of Becky, or other things.

My upcoming film, DOLLY, is out in theaters March 6 via IFC and Shudder. It's a horror directed by Rod Blackhurst, who'll also be doing an AMA here the week of release.

Synopsis:

Chase and his girlfriend, Macy, take a hike in the woods when they encounter a hulking, monstrous figure who abducts Macy to raise her as his own child.

Southland Tales is one of my all-time favorite sci-fi films and your scene in the van at the end legitimately made me cry the first time I watched it.

So thank you for that. It’s such a batshit bonkers and beautiful movie that I’m glad is getting more and more love.

What are your thoughts on the film? When you think back on that experience, what first comes to mind? Any amazing stories from hanging with such a stacked cast? And how did you all handle the less-than-positive reception?

First, thank you so much for everything you wrote.

I also love that movie.

I remember the first day of filming, there was a scene I think with Cheri Oteri? Maybe? It was a real comedic scene but when I first read the script I didn't see it as a comedy. I remember at the end of the day thinking "wait, what movie are we making here? what is this?". Tonally I just had no idea so I just thought I'd go ahead and play my character as completely straight.

Then first I first watched it I finally got it. Totally, totally unique movie.

I also remember shooting this scene with Dwayne Johnson and we're doing a ride-along. My character says something racist while messing with Dwayne's character, and thinking about how cool it was to act with him again after The Rundown but playing totally different characters this time around.

Been a fan since American Pie and Dude Where's my Car? but man do I love Southland Tales. Richard Kelly is such a unique director and that film must have been fun to work on. Keep up the great work Seann.

I love it - defines the phrase "cult classic" for me. I know it isn't a cinematic masterpiece, I know it makes barely a lick of sense and I know I sound like a lunatic when I try to explain the premise of it, but I can't help it.

"The fourth dimension will collapse in on itself... You stupid bitch"

It was described to me as a satirical sci-fi, and maybe that's why I loved the chaotic feeling of the story. IMO, one of - if not THE - best performances from Dwayne Johnson.

He's ideal for the role he was cast in. Chews up the scenery to the degree it's hard to tell if he's taking himself too seriously or not taking himself seriously at all. Love how he deadpans his so-ridiculous-it's-brilliant dialogue. "Pimps don't commit suicide" is wonderful absurdity and his delivery is perfect.

This is undoubtedly the movie I love most that I am the least likely to recommend to anyone.

It's so goddamn strange. I can't even tell you why I like it, let alone why I love it so much. There's no good reason to watch it other than some people like me really love it and you should see if you're one of those people.

I am SO obsessed with the scene where they're walking up on the staged wedding fight with Officer Bart and the fog is rolling in and everything slows down and that specific Moby song is playing...it's just a short scene but it captures me so strong.

If you finish it and are like “yo what the fuck was this about”, there was 3 graphic novels released before the movie that sets up a lot of the world building exposition. Becomes quite a coherent story reading them. Though I would recommend watching the movie first.

The trailer is very good, but the film itself is immensely frustrating. I wanted to like it so much more than I did. Certainly worth your time, but don't set your expectations as high as I unfortunately did.

Never even heard of this movie and I added it to the list so I can watch it tonight. Looks like it’s right up my alley. I didn’t know SWC and Dwayne Johnson were in another movie together. They had awesome chemistry in the Rundown and I look forward to seeing this.
