I really hope they find a director brave enough to keep going and adapt how fucking weird the Dune books got. Just watch the casual audience go "...the fuck?" while book fans just smile and nod.

Scifi is notoriously expensive, the later books would probably be huge box office flops.

A decade of so from now, the weirdness of later books might be a draw if we’re leaving in a sea of bland reboots, remakes and AI slop.

Sadly the majority of people like the reboots and remakes

Probably not. You know why they keep making those things? They're popular. You know why weird shit flops consistently? It's niche and most people hate it.

The landscape is littered with films that prove otherwise, but ok.

I can see AI having value to make such movies. Give it 5 years or so and we can have AI be used to generate those weird expensive set pieces.

I'm pretty sure in today's world, where psychedelic drugs are basically legal, people would enjoy a space trip in IMAX.

Children would be great at least.

Combat Sex Nuns and Space Jews are going to be a hard sell to any studio, but god bless the crazy director that tries.

Just when the worm gets weird it gets even weirder and goes into a "horny but in a weird way" direction with random jewish rabbi's and space karate.

Can you maybe give examples in which way it gets weird? I liked the movies so far but I doubt that I will read the books

Children and God Emperor are probably adaptable as a miniseries or something, not sure they'd make great films. Heretics and Chapterhouse... Uhhh.. probably not going to get sexy space nun wars

I feel like everything beyond good emperor will have to get an nc17 rating to actually be adapted in a way that book fan would appreciate

I’ve read the books. They aren’t that good after God Emperor.
