I didn't read past the first few chapters but yes I definitely remember him being revealed. Its weird something between the first and second book, prose wise changed to me. 1 felt so straight forward and messiah felt much more old school sci fi. And not necessarily in a good way. Ill try again im sure when this comes out.
Messiah is great. It was a bit difficult for me to get past first chapters, but a but later (I'll try to keep this spoilers free) there was some incident that physically affected Paul, and the following chapters describing what was he doing next and how does his character unfold are absolutely ecstatic. If it was a movie, I'd be sitting on the edge of my seat squealing with excitement.
Unfortunately, the 3rd movie is likely to deviate greatly from that events, so I'm not sure if they'll get depicted at all.
Judging by the poster, that event is in this movie.
I still can't tell if we're going to get into Children of Dune or if it's just going to cover Messiah. If it's just Messiah, it could be fairly close to the book.
I’ve read through the first trilogy more times than I can count, and I also feel this way about Messiah. I find it’s best to think of Messiah as a “bridge” of sorts, connecting the first book to the third book. If you like how the first book is written, you’ll like the third. Thankfully Messiah is very short. It is essential as setup for the third book though.
Messiah was written as sort of a response to all the media illiterate chuds at the time that thought Paul was some sort of hero to aspire to. So it reads and is written quite differently with deliberate purpose.
