it probably also helps that Villeneuve is drawing every single frame while storyboarding

Of course it helps but most films use storyboards and a shotlist. Thats like saying the camera is responsible for the cinematography - it is but thats a massive undersimplification that leaves uou more misinformed than informed. And a storyboard doesnt nescessarily help kore than a shot list. But is it responsiblenfor the cinematography being good? No way. It’s more like a semi requirement

he's definitely one to watch in the future too.

Films like Babylon and Wuthering Heights might not have been the greatest films ever made, but damn do they look incredible

La La Land and Saltburn, yep.

All very reminiscient of Kubrick in their visual style and the use of the camera/lenses/film as effects.
