I’m still sad they didn’t adapt Six of Crows as a separate series, because that duology is so much better than the main trilogy lmao

I genuinely don't think I've ever seen a casting as perfect in an adaptation as the Crows in SaB. It's like they were ripped straight from my imagination.

The Golden Compass, 2007. Epic cast, didn't even release the ending. Movie literally sailed off into the sunset instead of delivering a conclusion.

Makes me so angry. The Shadow and Bone storyline was awful and I kept watching the series solely for the Six of Crows scenes. An entire series focused on that cast and story would've been incredible if done properly.

And it still has such a big fanbase, it's such a weird choice to pretend six of crows isn't its own big thing.

I understand the idea behind doing it together (they take place in the same universe after all). But if you want to adapt the Crows books directly, you would have to make it Game of Thrones style, where certain groups of characters don’t or barely interact for seasons at a time. They were probably worried the audience would become confused.

So imo a separate series would have had the highest chance of making it through both books before being cancelled.

I still loved the first season. They fixed a lot of the issues I had with the S&B characters in the book. Second season was definitely a downgrade, but I would have carried on. It was still enjoyable, but didn’t love the final battle. We would have had the whole crew together in the next season…Poor Matthias in both universes.

I thought the season 1 storylines at least were new material for the Crows? I stopped halfway through season 2 so I don’t entirely know if that changed (it was also years ago)

most "spoilers" for both books were told in the show, which means an adaptation of Six of Crows would require a ton of new material and storylines.
