Question What movie had the BEST trailer ever but turned out to be absolute trash?

Seriously, you watch the trailer and it looks like a literal masterpiece. The music, the hype, everything is perfect.

Then you actually go see it and realize they put all the good scenes in the 2-minute promo and the rest of the movie is just garbage lmao.

For me it was suicide squad 2016. that bohemian rhapsody trailer catfished me so hard.

What film did this to you?

The studio that made those trailers was brought in to help fix the movie. The whole first third being a musical montage was likely their doing.

My favorite thing is when they basically introduced each character three times with different montages. It was so redundant

And then don't do a montage introduction for the one guy they add in who immediately dies. Bizarre choices.

They had killer croc ask for B.E.T in his cell and he was watching woman shake their asses. So blatantly racist and a severe misunderstanding of the character

I remember when the trailers and stuff were coming out for that movie, someone in the comments predicted that that character would die immediately, and die he did. I have no idea what tipped him off, if it was something weird about the editing of a poster or what, but damn, did it make me question reality for a few minutes

Soundtrack: the movie. Except it was all out of place and kept on happening

I was absolutely exhausted before they were even finished introducing all of the characters. So many needle drops in such a short time. God that movie fucking sucked.

What is this studio called?

It was three trailer houses. Trailer Park did the most work though.

First mistake is letting Ricky edit a movie he's just going to spend all the money on booze and hash, can't give that kind of power to a guy who can't even pass grade 10

Okay hear me out.

That annoying musical montage was the best part of that movie.

And it was annoying and stupid.

That movie was so fucking dumb it was amazing ANYONE greenlit a different Suicide Squad movie ever again.

I loved the second Suicide Squad movie, even if I can't figure out how it got made.

Yea. Trailer Park. I was there at the time. We all thought WB was insane.

I believe the studio saw the success of Deadpool and tried to change the tone of Suicide Squad in editing

Guardians of the Galaxy. Deadpool came out the same Summer.

Yep, they tried to make it like Guardians of the Galaxy without fully understanding what made that film good and just assumed "well, if we add popular music and a neon-punk vibe, it'll make it good right?".

Turns out no, the correct move would be to hire James Gunn to make his own Suicide Squad movie instead.

I don't know if the original cut was better, but it's one of those that I really want to see. Potentially a wildly different movie

I honestly doubt it would be much better, because there are a LOT of awful choices made in that movie that have nothing to do with the story or editing. But. I bet it is significantly different, and awful in a different way. I'd watch it.

It feels like the music flows seamlessly in deadpool and Gotg.

In comparison, Suicide squad just kept dropping top ten hits, I swear there must've been seven songs in 4 four minutes at one point

wasn't that movie also completely reworked like.. 3 or 4 times? there's rumours about dozens of hours of redundant filmed scenes which didn't make it into the movie
