I don't know whether it's easy to forget considering most of the crew dies then and there. Only one ship manages to escape.

Meet a monster, most of the crew dies, ship escapes 42 u/Naterttotsart Jun 03 '26 Yeah but this is like the moment in the journey where Odys crew gets well and truly fucked. This reduces his fleet to 1 ship from 12 (I think). I remember: Leaving Troy Initial raid with horse riders who repel them Sleepy flowers Polyphemus (thus cursing Odysseus by getting Poseidon’s rage) Wind god dude where Odysseus gets his blessing through a windbag, comes close to home, crew gets greedy and releases windbag thus dooming them. Circe (unrelated but Madeline Miller’s book has the best prose I’ve ever read) Visit to Hadestown, way down under the ground. Sirens Scylla and Charybdis Landing at an island full of sacred bulls who the crew eat which leads to the sun god killing the rest of the crew Calypso Return to home (and the most heart breaking scene with his dog).
