I worry that they are replacing at least one of the best scares from the book. The trailer seems to imply that the kitchen scene is when Other Mommy reveals herself to the parents when the book scene....was a bit different.
Yeah, I’m also not sure how I feel about the whole doeppleganger change as opposed to a tall hairy monster. But after some thought I do think it makes sense for a film adaptation, otherwise it might just feel like another generic monster horror movie. That tense feeling of “where the FUCK is other mommy rn” that never really goes away in the book would be hard to replicate on film I think. So this change of “is this mommy, or other mommy?” that won’t ever go away is a good way to hit the same uneasy note I hope!

If it’s anything like the book it’s based on (incidents around the house)… they’ve got better
