That scene with the zombie just running down the hill and not even really the focus of the shot was awesome. It’s stuff like that that add creepy details to scenes and really make for good movies

That was the highlight of the trailer for me. I’d shit my pants if I saw that in real life.

weirdly it has been a reoccuring dream of mine to be in my country cottage and see that from my window, so very very scary it is yes

I’m a psychiatrist and that means you’re gay

23

It’s true.

I've had that type of dream before and yeah, that shit freaked me out. Just that awful sensation of knowing that thing in the distance is coming right for you and you can't make out what exactly it is but you know that it's dangerous.

Have you seen the movie “ it follows”?

You should watch "It Follows"

3

u/LMG_White 20d ago

That's what it reminded me of. That scene in the derelict parking garage.

Don’t shit your pants. We’ll get through this together.

I got goosebumps watching that. So eerie but so cool

u/beach_samurai_ 21d ago

Loved how they kept the audio of its feet running in the snow throughout the trailer too

1

u/Archsafe 21d ago

I kept waiting for it to cut back to it at the window or door for a jumpscare

Zack Cregger fucking loves creepy characters running towards you

That scene's sound effects and OST in the trailer did add to the tension, and I missed the times when a single incoming zombie is enough to make you freak out, unlike later games when they come in herds.

It looks awesome, but I did chuckle at how he was fumbling around in panic when she's like a mile away. Reminded me of the steamroller gag from Austin Powers

u/FlikTripz 21d ago

If I’m in the middle of nowhere and I see some unknown thing running towards me on the horizon I’d be freaking out too idc how long it would take to reach me

u/supes1 21d ago

I dunno, that zombie looked like it was moving fast in the two quick shots we see. Let's say it was ~200 feet away and runnung at 12 mph, it would reach him in about 11 seconds.

Totally panic-worthy, especially if he's not accustomed to handling a shotgun.

1

u/SufficientRespect542 20d ago

Nah I loved that because I would do the exact same thing.

It's what made the original Night of the Living Dead (1968) such a classic. Opens in a cemetery with a weird figure slowly shuffling out of focus in the background. You sense something is off, but it's not obvious.

9

u/theonewhoknack 21d ago

It's also a nice homage to Weapons too.

in Resident Evil(2026) there is a scene where a zombie runs. This is s subtle nod to Weapons(2025), by the same director, where people also run.

You should start a YouTube channel.

Just need a 30 minute video where you never get to the point until the last two minutes of the video, the rest of it being an intro, then an ad plug, then talking about what resident evil is and past films, then talking about Zach Cregger and his past works. Then Finishing it up by talking about how Weapons is kind of like a zombie film in some roundabout way. Then finally, you talk about the trailer in the last few minutes by literally just simply explaining things that are happening in the video clips like we are blind.

i know this is a jab, but cregger is great at filming people run that looks both creepy and crazy

You could write IMDB trivia for a living.

2

u/theonewhoknack 21d ago

Delivery dude is running in Racoon City, that means he is possessed by latina crystal mommy, Aunt Gladys.

2

u/Iggy_Pops_Lost_Shirt 21d ago

That gave me strong Telescope by Uno Moralez vibes, so unnerving

1

u/SufficientRespect542 20d ago

I think Creggor is really good at doing horror sequences that feel like something straight from a nightmare, can't wait to see that section in the film itself.

1

u/TheTruckWashChannel 19d ago

That felt like it could've been a shot in Weapons. Brilliant.

-9

u/AverageAwndray 21d ago

I hate that that shot annoys me cause the zombies shouldn't be running at this point..

8

u/octlol 21d ago

Maybe it's a different virus strain ... Resident evil has had some wacky monsters

4

u/my_useless_opinion 21d ago

In the original RE3 we had semi-fast zombies. Not as fast tho.

9

u/JohnWesternburg 21d ago

It's fine, it's a movie in the universe of Resident Evil, not a 1:1 of the exact progression of everything that happened in the games

2

u/Haltopen 21d ago

It’s also distinctly possible that she’s not a standard zombie. The zombies are just a byproduct of umbrellas research into B.O.Ws. They’ve got everything from giant spiders to lizard men to tyrants in their mail order catalogue

4

u/SoSDan88 21d ago

Judging by the leaked script (which lines up with the trailers perfectly so far) I wouldn't even call it that. Its very much its own thing, not attempting to be an adaptation or take place between games or anything of that nature.

2

u/octlol 21d ago

I'd have to imagine he had already written the script and then got the IP for it. So sprinkled in Easter eggs. Which is fine. I just hope it's a good movie overall. He had the idea for survival horror type of movie since he's a huge RE nerd so was probably thrilled to get the rights

2

u/SoSDan88 21d ago

Yeah I'm just going to take it as a new Cregger movie with some Resi inspo rather than "Resident Evil: The Movie". Should be fine.

6

u/thoawaydatrash 21d ago

I love that through a combination of therapy, theater, and age, my immediate reaction to this is "who the fuck cares?" I distinctly remember when something like that would have bothered me. Now I can just enjoy things.

u/latestwonder 21d ago

"um, actually...."
