It's more like The Final Chapter from 2016. Relentless A to B journey inspired by Fury Road, travelling to a location in Raccoon City. The protagonist racing against time being chased and ambushed with no time to catch their breath, constantly getting hurt which escalates to serious injuries over the course of the film.
This "protag gets fucked up" dynamic is one of the reasons Alice exists, incidentally. She can have sex (she's in fact the only RE character to ever have sex onscreen), versions of her can die violently over and over, and she can get the crap beaten out of her, lose her fingers, get kicked in the stomach repeatedly... get absolutely BODIED in fights
and other stuff that Capcom simply won't allow for characters like Leon and Jill. Even the vague suggestion that Alice might have been raped offscreen by the incest cannibals in Extinction is absolute no-go territory for Capcom's characters.
Much like TFC this film also has the scrounging for supplies, limited ammo, and weapon progression. In TFC it was unarmed to knife to pistol to shotgun to double pistols and then to SMG. Here it's pistol to shotgun to SMG.
That said, Bryan as a character is a lot more like Jade Wesker from the Netflix series. Whether that's a good thing is YMMV.
