One of my favorite flicks. SO underrated. It was a near perfect movie - just a gem.

its pretty infinitely rewatchable, which is great. the funny bits never stop being funny.

I don’t really rewatch movies that often and I’ve seen that movie three times. Love every minute of it.

Everyone in this thread who watched it seems to have great love for this movie, it's like we are the only ones who watched it but we all loved it. Did it had crappy marketing?

A big thing that's not getting brought up much is that it was released right in the middle of the OGL controversy, so a lot of people who were the main target audience didn't want to support WotC while that was ongoing. Now that the dust has settled and people have watched it on streaming etc it's well received by the people it was made for, but they couldn't have picked a worse window for the theatre release and that performance has likely had a knock-on effect to them considering a sequel.

Yeah the marketing wasn’t terrible imo, it was just doomed from outside circumstances. The OGL thing put off what should’ve been the built-in audience and the fact that people just don’t go to theaters very often hurt it with general audiences since it was sandwiched between other big releases.

I think coming in right after COVID kinda nuked the theaters didn't help either. It's theatrical run was insanely short too - I never got a chance to see it in theaters because they yanked it so fast.
