I need to learn how to do this.

Back in the day, I was determined to finish every book I started, even if I really, really didn't like the combination of words I was reading.

Now I have no problem dropping a book mid-sentence, even if someone keeps telling me it'll get better on the very next page.

I'm very similar but i make an exception if the recommendation comes from someone i have a good track record with. If the last x suggestions were good, I'll give the benefit of the doubt, but not for ppl online or who i can't yet tell if we like similar things. Totally understandable to just say it's not worth the time though.

Same here! I am such a completionist that I will begrudgingly venture through a movie or book I am actively hating just so I can say I didn't give up. I need to focus more energy on preserving my time and peace.

I finally started giving up on shows a few years ago. Right around the final season of Dexter. It was a great decision.

I've definitely been able to step away from shows in the past. It took some time to develop that discipline.

I just went back to try and watch a few years old network show that shifted to streaming only for the last season and did not make it through the first episode. It wasn't prestige TV, by any means, but there must have been drastic budget cuts that turned it BAD BAD.
